BUT it’s for my friend Reptar. His little leggies are too tiny and we gotta help him get big, strong ones so he doesn’t hurt later. 💚

It's and we have one main ask—FOOD!

Poor Alvin has been struggling the past few weeks with stomach issues. He's clear of any parasites, so that means it's diet related. We've started him on Limited Ingredient food to see if it helps, starting with Rabbit. The bag comes in different sizes/prices, and Chewy gift cards can be used towards it, too.

And we're running short on food overall. Any of the food on the Wishlist will be much appreciated by our (ALWAYS! according to them) hungry crew 😻

FITZ!! ❤️🥹

These are the moments that keep us going.

On Feb 25, we trapped 3 cats that had all been fending for themselves on the street because their families simply dumped them outside and abandoned them when moving. I cannot stress enough how unacceptable this is, especially when you can surrender animals at shelters. Indoor cats DO NOT have the skills needed to survive outdoors. All of them had rocks in their stomachs because they were trying to eat what they could.

Happily for these guys, we were able to catch them, but they were terrified. They’d already been discarded, had been trying to survive cars, predators, and hunger, and now strange humans were grabbing them. It’s no surprise they couldn’t trust us—imagine their trauma.

I truly wondered if Fitz might need to be put back outside, or in a colony, because he was expressing his fear with aggression. With the exception of vetting him and getting him fixed, I gave him space to feel safe with regular food and shelter and observe the other cats interacting with humans, hoping he might slowly regain some level of trust. Little by little, he would come closer, act calmer, even occasionally hop on my bed at night.

You could SEE how proud he was of himself when he first reached out to quickly bop my outstretched hand with his paw. It was so brave of him to risk contact after all he’d been through. 🥹

This morning, he risked it all.

Relieved and excited and beyond happy just to get head rubs. Eager to be loved.

He must have been craving a loving touch SO much. It took 14 weeks to rebuild his trust, and it was worth every minute. 🎉

These are the moments that remind us why we do what we do. Milestones we celebrate. Because every cat deserves this.

I know this sounds harsh but please read and share it. Rescues are drowning, most feel the same way, are begging for funds and help, and yet are bombarded by vague emails to rehome or take in animals while providing care 24/7 to the ones they committed to. It’s not fair!

Imagine this. You wake to feed animals throughout the night, you wake to multiple emails of people rehoming their pets, you medicate animals, you walk your dogs, you clock in for your real job, you make rescue calls on lunch, you walk your dog, you medicate animals, you feed again, you eat while doing all this. After work you reverse the process, add in any baths, add in litterboxes, and at 10 PM someone emails asking you to pick up stray kittens they most likely kitnapped and are mad you don’t respond by 11. It’s a ton! It’s burning out rescues and shelters. It’s leading to suicides! Be kind and supportive to your local teams!

Please be responsible with your animals. If you find one please refer to the graphic for guidance. We serve a huge area. We cannot take time to google for someone else to see what their local resources are. If you can FB message, then you can google. And it will be so appreciated! Layla got lucky just in time.

Her previous owner decided they no longer wanted her and surrendered her to the shelter. Because she was scared and overwhelmed, she was hissy and nervous with the staff. In an overcrowded shelter, that quickly got her put on a list where her only options were a rescue group, being put outside as a working cat, even though she had never been outside in her life, or euthanasia.

Even though we were already full, we could not accept that those were her only options, so just before her deadline, we pulled her and made the space in order to save her life.

She warmed up quickly once she was reassured she was in a safe place, and came out from hiding under the bed for treats and pets. And when a potential Adopter came to meet her, she immediately connected, playing and showing how relaxed she could be.

She has been doing a slow introduction with her new cat sibling Luna, who is all white, so it was a perfect opportunity to rename her Nova. 🌕🌌

She is settling in and clearly making herself right at home, knowing she’ll always be safe and loved. ❤️ so happy for you sweet girl—shoot for the stars!
