This little thing packs a LOT into a portable monitor.

The PetMAP is perfect for those situations where dragging over a full-size monitor just isn’t practical. You can monitor your patient’s vitals right from a compact unit, select the specific species you’re working with, and even choose the blood pressure site for more patient-specific readings.

And one of my favorite features — it connects to your phone through Bluetooth, so you can view and track everything right from your phone.

Small, portable, easy to use, and actually built with veterinary patients in mind. This is the kind of equipment that makes monitoring easier without sacrificing the information we need.

Kennel setup matters, especially for hospitalized cats.

They’re already sick, stressed, surrounded by unfamiliar smells and sounds, and getting poked and prodded by us all day. So taking a few extra minutes to make their space feel safe can make a huge difference.

A place to hide, comfortable bedding, food and water away from the litter box, keeping things quiet, and some Feliway to help take the edge off.

And because apparently we’re running a damn resort now… I added an iPad with DOGTV.

Obviously playing Wild Tails. 😂

Because if you’re going to be hospitalized, you might as well watch your vet tech on TV.

Reducing stress isn’t an extra with cats. It’s part of patient care.

POV: You’re an overstimulated vet tech and the pump is beeping, the dog is barking, someone yelled “I NEED A HAND,” the phone is ringing, the doctor is asking for labs, and someone just touched your shoulder.

I am one noise away from becoming the patient.

NYC hits different… and apparently so do the emergencies. 🗽🐾 Where are YOU from and tell me what a common emergency is in your neck of the woods?

I stopped by VEG Upper East Side and asked the vets and techs what kinds of emergencies they see most often in the city.

High-rise accidents. Rat poison exposure. Drug ingestions. And, of course, dogs eating absolutely unhinged things off NYC sidewalks.

Because when you live in a city with 8 million people, thousands of buildings, rats, mystery substances, and unlimited sidewalk snacks… the ER gets interesting.

A little look at what makes emergency veterinary medicine in NYC uniquely NYC.

NG tube placement — sped WAY up. 🐱🩺

This video highlights a few of my favorite tricks that can make NG tube placement smoother and more successful:

👉 Pick the right tube — proper size and length matter.
👉 Measure before you place — know where that tube needs to end before it ever goes in.
👉 Use the ventro-flex — one of my favorite little tricks to help direct the tube ventrally and encourage it toward the esophagus rather than the airway.
👉 Slow, controlled advancement — never force the tube if it isn’t passing easily.

⚠️ This video is VERY sped up and is not intended to show every step of NG tube placement. There are several additional steps involved, including appropriate patient preparation, placement confirmation, securing the tube, and monitoring. This video is meant to highlight just a few techniques I use during placement.

I’ll make a separate video showing how I place the finger-trap sutures to secure the tube.

And for anyone wanting the full walkthrough, I’ll have a longer, detailed NG tube placement video on my YouTube channel covering the process from start to finish. 🎥

POV: You’re calling in a prescription refill but the pharmacy hold music has absolutely no business being this seductive.

Pharmacy: “Please continue to hold.”

Me: Oh, I’ll hold. 😏🎶

Just trying to refill some meds and suddenly I’m the main character in a music video nobody asked for.

No matter how much clay you pack into a crit tube, that thing has already made its decision. 😂

Perfect seal? Beautiful clay plug? Did everything right?

Doesn’t matter.

The veterinary gods are watching… and they’ve decided you’ve had it too easy today. 😈

🩸 PFFFFFFFFT — BLOOD EVERYWHERE.

Crit tubes don’t follow physics.
Crit tubes follow their hearts.

And the veterinary gods are laughing at you

Part 1 of saying medical terms BACKWARDS! As if the words weren’t hard enough to begin with! Learning medical terminology is like speaking a 3000 year old dead language that makes zero sense! So let’s krank up the difficulty

We save lives.
We have college degrees.
We passed our board exams.
We calculate drug dosages, run anesthesia, manage critical patients, and perform CPR.

But put a cat carrier in front of us and suddenly we’re a room full of Victorian children trying to solve a Rubik’s Cube.

“How the hell does this open?” 😭🐈‍⬛

Veterinary medicine: where the patient is sometimes easier to figure out than the container they arrived in.
