Happy Earth Day from Twilight Retrievers 🌎🐾💚

Around here, Earth Day looks like muddy paws, long walks, and plenty of time spent outdoors doing what dogs love most.

There’s something special about watching puppies explore the world—every stick, every leaf, every new smell reminds you to slow down and appreciate the little things.

Days like today are a good reminder to unplug, step outside, and enjoy it all (your dog will thank you for it 🐶)

What does it really take to become a service dog?
It all starts with a strong foundation.

Before any of our puppies begin specialized training, they go through our Started Puppy Program—where we focus on building confidence, trust, and real-world readiness.

That means exposure to new environments, new sounds, and even something as simple (but important!) as wearing a vest they’ve never had on before. We never want their “firsts” to happen with their new family—we want them prepared and comfortable every step of the way.

Our program focuses heavily on:
✨ Crate training
✨ Leash work
✨ Basic obedience

Because a well-trained service dog starts with a solid, thoughtful beginning 🐶

Rories puppies are getting their 6 week shots today. Which is one step closer for them to be able to go home soon.
Sassy's babies all opened their eyes this weekend! Look at those peepers.

We would love for all the puppies to have a home by the time they are 8 weeks old.

Rorie's puppies go home at the end of March.

Sassy's puppies go home at the beginning of May.

Our exciting news was slightly delayed this weekend… but we are finally ready to share it!
💛🐾🖤🐾💛🐾🖤🐾💛🐾🖤🐾💛🐾🖤🐾💛🐾🖤

Rorie and Gavin welcomed a beautiful litter of puppies, and as Liam proudly announced, “Mama, their eyes grew in.” 🤦‍♀️😂 This crew opened their 👀 eyes this weekend and are doing wonderful.

From this litter, we have 1 yellow male available to go home at the end of March.

We also have 3 other adorable puppies currently available:

✨ Onyx — a female from Raven and Gavin (born in November). She is a quiet, reserved little girl who would thrive in a low-key home with an already established doggie friend.

✨ Two black males from Maple and Apollo (born late November). These boys are the sweetest — they love to snuggle just as much as they love to run and play.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a puppy to your family, now is a wonderful time. Feel free to message us for more information about any of these babies from Twilight Retrievers. 🐶💕

It’s puppy go-home day for Maple & Apollo’s girls! 🐾

We woke up to a very light dusting of snow ❄️ — not quite what my brother got in Canada (see photo 😅), but enough to make things a little messy here at the farm.

All morning pickups have been relocated to the church, and we’ll make a decision about afternoon pickups shortly.

Please travel safely!

✨ Unexpected Spring Opening — Started Puppy Available ✨
We have an unexpected started puppy opening available for our spring program and currently have two black males from Maple & Apollo who are excellent candidates for training.
So, what does a started puppy mean?
A started puppy has already begun learning the foundations that make the transition into a new home smoother—while still being young, adaptable, and ready to continue growing with their family.
🐾 Our started puppy program focuses on:
• Basic obedience foundations
• Crate training
• Housebreaking
• Leash work
• Confidence building & socialization
• Exposure to everyday sights, sounds, and routines
These two boys have the temperament, drive, and focus we look for when selecting puppies for training.
One of their littermates is currently being chosen as a Diabetic Alert Dog, which speaks volumes about the potential within this pairing.
Started puppies are ideal for families who want a head start without missing out on bonding and continued training.
