The pledge is a promise. These are the dogs behind it. 💚⁣

Every signature on the Responsible Dog Owner Pledge is a person saying: I’ll do right by my dog, and I’ll show the world what a pit bull can be. It’s a commitment to love, to lead, and to change minds one well-loved dog at a time.⁣

Christine’s Ostara was used for breeding and abused before she found her way home. Two years in, she’s thriving – and Christine now rescues, fosters, transports, and advocates for the breed.⁣

Shannon’s Deegan was dumped in a crate in front of a pet store. Two years and a lot of patience later, he’s thriving.⁣

Sydney’s Chaos has been her BFF for years – growing up alongside her and going everywhere with her.⁣

Still searching for his forever home: meet Matty. 💚

June is National Foster a Pet Month, and Matty is the perfect reminder of why fosters matter. His foster has been keeping him active, and that’s exactly where this boy thrives.

Matty is a two-year-old pittie with a heart of gold who loves hiking and playing outside almost as much as he loves his toys (and he really loves his toys). When he’s not exploring, he’s a self-appointed snuggle king who has never met a stranger.

He's looking for an active family ready to hit the trails, invest in his training, and give him the stimulation he needs to thrive.

A little about Matty:
🐾 House trained
🐾 Crate trained
🐾 Good with older kids
🐾 Dog friendly
🐾 Snuggle king

Fostering and adopting do the same quiet, powerful thing: they open up space so one more dog can be saved. It’s a small choice with a real ripple.

If you’re in the Charlotte area and ready for an adventure buddy, Matty is adoptable through our partners at .

The pledge is a promise. These are the dogs behind it. 💚⁣

The Responsible Dog Owner Pledge is a commitment to lead by example – to feed our dogs well, house them well, train them well, treat them well, and most of all, love them well. It's a promise to socialize our dogs, to teach others how to safely interact with them, and to refuse to be a negative statistic for a breed that's too often misjudged.⁣

Suzanne adopted Bane after months in foster care, overlooked by adopters because of his breed. He’s been thriving ever since.⁣

Angela took in King-Cuddlesworth at age 4 and earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen Certification nine months later — breaking stigma, one good pitizen at a time.⁣

Kimberly’s Roxie was a family dog who picked her person. She arrived right when Kimberly needed her most.⁣

Mark adopted Sativa after she’d been neglected and abused. He says she rescued him right back.⁣

Kendra got Blu at 6 months when his first family gave up on him. Now he comes to work with her at a halfway house, bringing hope to men in recovery.⁣

Scout's pittie Chloe is the designated cuddler of the house — and impossible to resist.⁣

Before the stigma, there was Sergeant Stubby. 💚⁣

A stray picked up on a Yale campus in 1917. Smuggled overseas. 18 months on the Western Front. 17 battles.⁣

He warned his unit of gas attacks before humans could smell them. He found wounded soldiers in no man's land. He captured a German spy and held him until troops arrived, the act that earned him his rank.⁣

Sergeant Stubby met three presidents. He's preserved at the Smithsonian. The New York Times gave him a half-page obituary when he died in 1926.⁣

He was also a pit bull-type dog.⁣

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, we remember the service members who gave everything. And we remember that the dogs beside them, the ones history decorated, are the same dogs facing bans and stigma today.⁣ 🐾

The breed hasn't changed. The story has.⁣

Zoila adopted Stitch from the Humane Society in 2021. He carried her through the hardest year of her life.⁣

Allison met Gunner on a shelter visit honoring her late dog Daisy. He'd been abandoned for not being “mean enough.”

Fran has loved Nina since she was 3 months old. Nina is now 14½ and still THE perfect dog.⁣
