🌈 Ten months hardly seems fair, but I’m trying to remind myself that initially, we thought we might not have any time with Reggie at all. If you’re familiar with his story, you know he wasn’t dealt a fair hand. He was horribly neglected before he came to FCRR and he overcame so much.
We rescued Reggie so he could finally live a safe, happy and carefree life and that’s exactly what he did. He spent his days grazing in a lush pasture and napping in the sun. He took full advantage of the unlimited hay buffet. Every morning and every evening he enjoyed a massive bucket of soaked grain and when he was done, I scratched his back until my arms were so tired I had to stop. I’m going to miss the sound of his giant feet on the ground, hearing him neigh and snort excitedly (and impatiently) for every single meal and the way he draped his neck over my shoulder so I could scratch the very top.
Big Reg, thank you for letting us smother you with affection when it was completely foreign to you. Thank you for being so cooperative despite the fact you’d never been shown kindness. Thank you for trusting us even though that you had every reason not to. You’re leaving a great big hole in my heart but witnessing your transformation and being part of your journey has been
an absolute privilege. Until we meet again.
