hampaign County Humane Society (CCHS) believes that the best way to train and rehabilitate homeless animals is through reward based training. food, praise, toys, etc.) an animal when it responds with a desired behavior. The beauty of positive reinforcement training is that it increases the likelihood that a good behavior will be repeated. Adoption Policies
-Our adoption program is for individuals and families seeking a pet to live indoors and provide companionship.
-You must be 21 years of age or older to adopt.
-We recommend that all household members meet the animal during the adoption process. In some cases, we will make this a requirement.
--If you rent or lease your home, we require written or verbal approval from your landlord before you adopt a pet.
-If you currently own animals, making sure your pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and care can help expedite the adoption process.
-All cats, dogs, and rabbits will be spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
-Our adoption contract requires you to take your new pet to a veterinarian within one week of adoption. LOST PETS??? Stray pets found by the public and animals impounded by Champaign County Animal Control go directly to the Champaign County Animal Services Facility located at 210 S. Art Bartell Road (on the North East corner where Art Bartell Road intersects with the service road to CCHS). Yuna is a one year old Rex rabbit available for adoption.

Yuna is a very personable bunny! As soon as you open her enclosure, she immediately runs up to greet you with her head down, asking for pets. Yuna loves exploring outside of her enclosure and can be quick to start her "binkies." She loves to munch on all kinds of different veggies, green bell peppers being one of her favorites!

She has a history of living with cats and guinea pigs and has done very well with them. She has not ever lived with a rabbit friend so we are unsure how she feels about sharing her space. If you have a resident rabbit you would like to bond her with, we do offer rabbit introductions at our facility! Stop in and ask to meet with Yuna if you are interested in adopting!

2 year old Raena is a precious as can be!

Raena is a shy girl who is quick to warm up with a good treat! Raena is so sweet and loves to accept pets whenever possible! Raena has a positive history with other dog friends and children as young as 6 years old. She has never interacted with cats, so we are unsure how she would be with them.

Raena has worked hard on her basic manners skills, both in her previous home and here at the shelter! She knows most of her commands in spanish, but answers some in english as well.

1 year old Oliver would love to be your new feline companion for life!

Oliver is not only handsome, he's a renowned conversationalist at the shelter! Oliver loves a good conversation about the latest delicious treats! Oliver also loves to play with wand toys as well as other kinds of toys. He is commonly seen playing with a mouse toy and is speedy at chasing the wand toy. This guy is full of affection and will rub up against you if he wants your attention!

Oliver has a history of living with other cats and dogs, and he prefers to be the only pet. He doesn't like sharing your attention or affection! Oliver also must go to a home where there are no children under the age of 15 years old, since can get quite rough when playing.

3 year old Lil Mamma is looking for a new forever home!

Lil Mamma is a 'gentle giant,' weighing at 74lbs (and could benefit to gain a few more pounds!). Lil Mamma may start of shy, but she is sure to warm up with some patience! She loves to lounge outside and check out any smells she can. She loves to interact with the humans she's familiar with and is a very affectionate girl!

Lil Mamma has never been around children or cats, so we are unsure what she thinks of them. Due to behaviors seen in her previous home and in the shelter, Lil Mamma must be the only dog in the home, she just loves soaking up all the attention for herself!

Little Debbie is a gorgeous 4 month old kitten available for adoption!

Little Debbie is the last one of her litter to be adopted! She starts off shy, but is super sweet once she's familiar with you! She loves full body pets and has a loud purr to go with them! Little Debbie loves to play with all kinds of different toys, including a good wand toy!

At the shelter, Little Debbie has been soft spoken with a calmer demeanor than most kittens. This could change once she's in a home setting she is fully comfortable in!

3 year old Thor is eagerly awaiting his forever home!

Thor is a sweet boy who is as goofy as he is affectionate! Thor has a positive history of doing well with children of all ages and other dogs. Cats, however, he has never seen, so we are unsure how he would do with them.

Thor has been in several puppy play groups and does very well! He does start off a little shy, and may shy away from dogs who are much more outgoing than he is! With a little time and supervised interactions, he tends to come around to play with them.

1 year old Fable has been enjoying her time in her foster home!

Fable loves exploring and is known to 'binky' when she's especially having fun. Fable is incredibly smart, she is able to solve most puzzles extremely quick!

Fable has been in our care for 4 months! She would love a permenant family to call her own!

Rocket is a VOLUNTEER FAVORITE pet! Here's what dog socializer, Michelle, has to say about him:

"Rocket lives up to his name in every way. Rocket has a lot of energy, and he will tell you all about it (loudly), when you swing by his kennel. But don’t let this deceive you, the moment he is outside, he leaves his bark behind and is ready to explore…you just need to be able to keep up with him 😝 Rocket is the shy discerning type, as I have gotten to know him, I can see that he finds the big wide world a little unnerving and is glad to have you by his side. Now I feel lucky to get a little wiggle and a lick goodbye when we go back into the shelter. Whilst he may not give his love away freely, I can imagine how happy it would make him to have a friend that will help him build his confidence and get him out for long runs. If this is you, I think this understated sweet boy will be worth it."
