30 dogs. 🐾 And I’m feeling incredibly grateful.
Since opening Adventure Herd at the end of May, I’ve had the privilege of welcoming 30 different dogs into my home, with many of them coming back to stay with me again.
When I started Adventure Herd, my “why” was simple. I believe dogs deserve a safe, comfortable place to be when their families have to go somewhere without them.
I wanted to create a home environment where I could be intentional about each dog’s individual needs, pay close attention to their behavior and body language, and make thoughtful decisions about their safety while still giving them plenty of opportunities to have fun and enjoy themselves.
There are so many wonderful ways to care for dogs, and I know every family and every dog has different needs. For me, I knew I wanted to create a small, personal environment where I could really get to know each dog who comes through my door.
My background gives me another layer of knowledge that I’m incredibly grateful to bring into their care. My love for canine behavior has taught me to watch body language, recognize stress signals, anticipate potential problems, and make adjustments before they become problems.
And because I’m fascinated by the canine brain, I love creating enrichment around what dogs are naturally wired to do. Sniffing, licking, chewing, exploring, playing, problem solving, decompressing, and resting.
Every dog doesn’t need the same thing. That’s the whole point. ❤️
I want Adventure Herd to be a place where dogs can come as themselves, be cared for as individuals, and most importantly, be as safe as possible while their families are away.
Thank you to every family who has trusted me with their furry family members. I don’t take that responsibility lightly, and I never will. 🫶🏽
