Road to healing ✨️

Doctors appointment went well, I suppose I can say! NO SURGERY ON MY KNEE! BUT, he said with the MCL tear, it can take over 9 months to heal and not be in anymore pain from it. It is inoperable, so it's back to two crutches, semi weight barring, NOT FULL and this brace. 6 weeks after my accident I can go to NO CRUTCHES, which will be in August. Unfortunately it's still going to be a long road of being able to fully heal and no longer be in pain from it. I've been doing good at icing and keeping inflammation down, which helps the pain reduce. But any twisting, weight ir bending hurts. It could've definitely been worse, but so happy no surgery!! He said there isn't anything they can do about the meniscus tear and he believes it could even be a older injury and not from my accident in June. I feel as if it isn't one thing, it's another. I understand and in my beliefs, God has a plan for everything, so keeping my faith as strong as I can and doing my best to fully believe this is what he wanted. Thank you all for the prayers and thoughts, still very needed.

Last Friday I had a neck injection, so hoping that will relieve some neck pain, can take about a week to feel a difference they said. Wednesday is my cardiologist again. If it's not one Doctor, it's another but hoping to get more comfortable with the amount of daily pain I am in, not feeling good and just want to be semi "normal".

UPDATE after my accident. I had one of my horses land on top of me. It was a freak accident. When she landed on me, she got stuck in the round pen panels and thrashed ontop of my right leg. I got very lucky with my neck and back issues i didn't become paralyzed or worse. I am very glad my knee was all that was injured. I have a MRI this Wednesday, it was suppose to be done after I had the accident, then the following week and has issues with the schedulers. So WEDNESDAY it is. I am now trying to walk without a walker, crutches and no more brace. My leg is still swollen and the PAIN IS HORRIBLE. But I can hold back the tears finally. I have been prescribed medication along with Physical therapy to get started until MRI results are back. Unfortunately the doctors believe I tore somethings in my knee, NOTHING IS BROKEN πŸ™ it's going to be a while of a recovery. I still haven't been able to make it outside to tend to my outdoor animals. And yesterday I was able to SLOWLY take care of the indoor animals. I have a VERY hard time bending my knee, I can't bend down. Walking my knee is VERY painful with any weight, or even bending, but I'm trying my best to do it.

I also get my first neck injection Friday, and trying another back injection *have to reschedule because I had to cancel due to my accident* . If it isn't one thing , it's another. But I am truly thankful for my boyfriend, my family and all my friends helping me out during this time. Just going by one day at a time right now and that's all I can do. I can't thank you all enough for all the prayers. They are still very needed as I DON'T want surgery on my knee.

Today I get my in home EEG on . Can't leave the house for 4 days, not ready for it. But hopefully we can see if there is anything fully wrong with my brain, or if it is all my heart. Hopefully can cross it off in a couple days and just have my heart and spine issues πŸ™ but anyways, I'll be in the house for way too long. I'll be working on a couple projects for a wild life rescue. Spam me with things to do, bake or to watch. For my sanity πŸ˜…

My MRI results came back Wednesday and talked with the doctor Thursday.... it's not what I wanted to hear, but I knew something was wrong. Another MRI has been ordered. I'm not sure what the next steps are for now, my follow up is February 10th to go over things in more detail and plan for the future. Please continue to send positive thoughts and prayers! I definitely need them.

So the time has come... I need a new car. Looking for a small SUV or SUV. Will trade either my gooseneck value of $4,300...

We have heavily been talking about a upcharage on 250+ # pigs. Unfortunately there's a large amount of over weight pigs, and all that weight is very hard on us trimmers too. We haven't made it official yet, this would be something that would effect new clients as I know all our clients we know which ones are a little more and we only have around 15 that are VERY large. A healthy diet, weight and maintaining it is so important for the health and QUALITY of life for all pet piggies. Please remember, KuneKunes come in ALL sizes. Some are bred to get big for MEAT, some are bred smaller for pets. We have seen KuneKunes from 75 pounds to over 500+ # that we have trimmed. But this is for any breed. We will do our best to help you with a good diet to help lose or maintain a healthy weight. Your piggy will thank you in the long run!

Let’s talk healthy weight and body condition for pet Kune Kune pigs.

I trim a very small number of Kune Kunes, mostly because their adult size and weight can be unpredictable compared to other pet pig types. That said, limited numbers does not mean a lack of care or concern. I absolutely care about their well being, and I want owners to know what healthy actually looks like for this breed.

This photo is a great example of a healthy Kune Kune pig.

Take a look at the body lines.
The topline is smooth and level.
The belly is not dragging or hanging.
There are no heavy rolls or excessive padding.
The face is clean and well defined, not buried in fat.

Kune Kunes are often described as β€œround” pigs, but round does not mean obese. They should still have visible structure, a functional stride, and a body that can move comfortably without excess weight stressing joints, hooves, and organs.

Obesity is one of the biggest contributors to mobility issues, hoof problems, arthritis, and shortened quality of life in pet pigs of all breeds, including Kune Kunes. Just because a pig is friendly, eating well, and active does not mean their weight is appropriate.

If you keep Kune Kunes as pets, knowing what a healthy body condition looks like is part of responsible ownership. This pig is an excellent example of that balance.

Happy New Year!!
What a wonderful 2025 year we had. We traveled 16,582 MILES in 2025!! In 2024 in October, we were just reaching 6,000! To say we added 10,000 MORE MILES is just crazy! I can't thank you all enough for all the love and support for Dory's Mini Farm & Rescue , you truly are a blessing! Hoping to figure out my back and pain issues here soon! My MRI's on my back are on the 14th! I pray we can figure out what the issue is and I can get back to work and on the road for my farrier work full swing. Here's to 2026!! πŸπŸ·πŸπŸ‘πŸ„πŸ¦™πŸˆπŸ•πŸ‡πŸ¦”πŸ¦œπŸ¦ŽπŸ’πŸ¦¨
