Mesa being gorgeous at golden hour + sunset ponies last night 🫶🏼

5 of my students went to a show today — it started out super humid and hot and gross, and then about 2.5 hours in it turned stormy and we got poured on ⛈️ took shelter for a bit, got a couple more classes + the queen contest in, and then got fully rained out lol but at least everyone had fun and got some good practice in! And .skyes won senior cowgirl queen 👑 and Lily won runner up junior cowgirl queen! 🎉

Been a busy past couple weeks!! ☀️

The highlights:
-a lovely road ride with my perfect ponies on an absolutely gorgeous evening with .skyes, , and .boyer

-new tattoo!! 🦋 and I’m obsessed (close up of it on the 11th pic!)

-ran into traffic to grab a lil baby coyote with a hurt paw 😅 it was a Sunday evening so I couldn’t reach anyone to take him, so I got to be a coyote mom for a night and then took him to a wildlife rehabber on Monday 🦊 (no coyote emoji so fox will have to do)

Mesa also did fabulously at the show on Saturday!!

We did open halter and showmanship, and while he didn’t place in either of them, I was THRILLED with how he did — there were almost 30 horses in the halter class, so we were in the ring for probably almost half an hour, and he was an absolute angel! I’m positive that’s the longest he has ever stood still in his entire life 😂 and he was standing square for most of it, too. And he did great in our showmanship pattern as well! 💜

Chaco taco: the best boy ever 🫶🏼

Chaco & one of my students did a couple lead line classes today and they killed it!! All participants got 1st in the lead line walk only class, but then Chac & his kiddo got 2nd out of 5 in the lead line walk trot 🥹 they were so cute
Chaco got to hang out in the shade with Mesa and graze and munch on hay for most of the day, and he and I did two classes — optional gait, which we got 3rd in, and ranch riding, which we won 🥰

Everyone else on the team had a great day as well!!

Mesa is so freaking gorgeous I cannot believe it

I lunged him today and I swear he has such a pretty trot and lope that I’m blown away by it every time I see it 😍 He is just going to be the coolest little guy 💓

Another pony filled day ☀️ (plus some cute lil yearling heifers at the end 🐮)

It was such a beautiful day today!! this morning I worked with the two POAs I’m training, Tony & Tanya, then went to the farm and rode Gwennie, helped the farrier, rode my student’s adorable new mare (name TBD), deshedded Smiley the mini mule (there is now enough mule hair by the wash rack to knit a sweater), taught a lesson, and got a quick ride in on Chaco taco 💜

Busy day full of ponies 🫶🏼

I rode Gwennie, Skye (.skyes), and Melody, lunged Chaco & Simon, did a little groundwork with Mesa, did chores, and taught two lessons today! And now I’m worn out 😂 but it was a gorgeous day for it, and all the horses did great!!

The most perfect boy 💓

Chaco taco had a nice little workout in the hill pasture yesterday, and he looked great 🫶🏼 spent this morning working with a couple POAs I’m training, and then worked Gwennie, did some cleaning up around the property, and taught a few lessons. Gwennie is coming along quite nicely and I’m excited to see how she does at shows this summer!!

Mesa’s first sit!!!! 🥹

He was SUCH a good boy, didn’t even bat an eye — he was more worried about getting Ana to scratch his face than anything else 😂
I won’t be riding him for a while yet, but he’s been so good about lunging with the saddle, standing at the mounting block, and having weight in the stirrup and over his back that I thought I might as well give it a try… and he was perfect 🫶🏼 so so proud of my baby boy!!
(Also, he isn’t as tiny as he looks here, I’m just tall with ridiculously long legs 😂)
