Another milestone for Snacks! 🎉🐱

Snacks has officially fully transitioned to canned food! 🥳

Today, he ate just under a full can of kitten food—which is exactly where he should be for his caloric needs. So this little guy is officially fueling himself like a proper growing kitten! 💪🐾

And perhaps the biggest victory of all…

WE DIDN’T NEED A BATH.
NOT EVEN ONCE. 🙌😂

I cannot adequately express how exciting this is after the food-on-the-head era.

Now if he would just keep his feet out of his food!

Apparently, every meal must first undergo a thorough flattening process before it is acceptable for consumption.

But hey—he’s eating, growing, and staying mostly clean!

Next hurdle: DRINKING WATER. 💦

Stay tuned…

It’s a Snack attack! 🐱💥

Snacks has officially been with me for one whole week! ❤️

When he arrived a week ago, he weighed 311g.

Today?

478g! 🎉

That puts him right where he should be for his age—and he is clearly doing a fantastic job of growing!

Speaking of age… Snacks continues to have a very interesting relationship with developmental milestones. 😂

His body and facial features look more like a 3–4 week old kitten, and his eyes are still that beautiful, slightly discolored kitten-blue.

But then there are his teeth.

He has ALL of his baby teeth! 🦷

And those usually don’t all show up until around 7–8 weeks.

So we have a bit of a mystery on our hands.

Either Snacks’ teeth decided to get an early start…

or the rest of him is running a little behind schedule. 🤷‍♀️😂

We already established that teeth don’t lie.

So I guess that makes this little guy…

Week 5 going on 8! 😂🐾

At this point, I’ve stopped trying to figure Snacks out.

He’s clearly going to do what Snacks wants to do, when Snacks wants to do it.

And honestly?

That tracks. ❤️

So much improvement in the last 24 hours! 🥹🐾

Snacks has been eating his mousse (not mouse! 😂) consistently throughout the day—and he has now started refusing the bottle!

That’s a pretty big milestone for this little guy. 🥄❤️

He’s also been sleeping a LOT, which is completely normal at this stage.

After all, learning how to eat, use a litter box, coordinate four feet, and generally figure out how to be a kitten takes a tremendous amount of brain power. 🧠🐱

And all that learning means the brain needs plenty of sleep to process everything.

So Snacks’ current schedule is basically:

Eat for 3 minutes.
Sleep for 3 hours.
Wake up.
Eat for 3 minutes.
Sleep for 3 hours.
Repeat.

Honestly… he may be onto something. 😂

It’s hard work growing up! ❤️🐾

*sound on to hear the little slurps ❤️

Milestones reached today! 🎉🐾

🥄 Successfully ate off a spoon!

Granted, there was also a considerable amount of mashing the food with his feet between mouthfuls.

Perhaps that adds flavor? 🤔😂

I’m not judging. Whatever works, Snacks.

🚽 Successfully peed AND pooped in the litter box after each meal!

YAY!! 🎉🎉

Apparently Snacks has decided that the litter box is an acceptable place for bathroom business. We’ll take it!

And finally, in keeping with his unwavering commitment to “I’ll do it my way,” Snacks has decided that the ideal sleeping position is face-down, buried in the blankets.

How he breathes like that is a mystery.

But he seems perfectly happy with the arrangement.

At this point, I’m beginning to suspect Snacks has his own instruction manual—and absolutely no intention of sharing it with us. 😂❤️🐱

Snacks had his first semi-solid meal today! 🥹🐾

Although there is considerable debate over how much of it actually made it into his mouth. 😂

In keeping with his ongoing commitment to doing everything his own way, Snacks appears to have concluded that the traditional location of a mouth is merely a suggestion.

He dove face-first into his meal with the confidence of a kitten who absolutely knew what he was doing.

Spoiler: He did not. 😂

There was tremendous gusto. Lots of enthusiastic sucking noises. And a whole lot of what appeared to be eating with his forehead.

At one point, he lifted his head and I discovered that he had somehow managed to distribute dinner across his face, his head, and the floor—while leaving the actual mouth portion of the operation somewhat questionable. 🤦‍♀️😂

Honestly, it looked less like a kitten eating and more like a tiny furry Roomba trying to clean the floor with its face.

But hey, it was his first attempt!

He may not have figured out where the food is supposed to go yet, but he has definitely mastered the enthusiasm part.

We’ll call it a successful first lesson in the complicated art of eating with something other than your forehead. 🐱❤️

Snacks continues to do things at his own pace. 😂

At this age, he should still need a little help from a warm, wet cloth to stimulate him to urinate and have a bowel movement.

But apparently, Snacks didn’t get that memo. 🤷‍♀️

While my father was holding him on his back, Snacks suddenly released a golden shower ✨💦 straight into the air—like the cutest little fountain you’ve ever seen. 😂

And then, as if that wasn’t enough, he produced a perfectly solid poop… in the litter box! 💩👏

Which is impressive considering he’s still drinking nothing but milk.

So where exactly did that come from?!

At this point, I’m pretty sure Snacks is just making up his own developmental milestones. 😂🐾

09/22/2026

A kitten’s eyes typically open between 2–16 days of age, and when I picked Snacks up yesterday, he had one eye open. 👁️

Today? Both eyes have been open for most of the day! 👀

But here’s the thing… Snacks has TEETH. 🦷

“The better to eat you with, my dear!” 😂

Kittens’ incisors and canines typically start coming in around 3–4 weeks of age, and teeth don’t lie! So, despite being a little slow on the eye-opening department, Snacks is likely closer to 4 weeks old.

And that’s good news! Those tiny baby teeth are a sign that he should be getting ready to make the transition from bottle-feeding to soft food.

Should be. 😉

Snacks, however, has other ideas.

Eating from a dish is a brand-new skill, and he’s not quite convinced he needs to learn it yet. He keeps trying to suck the slurry up like a tiny vacuum cleaner—which, honestly, makes perfect sense. That’s how he’s gotten all his food so far!

Unfortunately, vacuuming food doesn’t work quite as well when it’s sitting in a dish. 😂

So we’re going to give him another day or two of bottle time while we keep practicing this complicated new skill called… eating.

One day at a time, little man. ❤️🐾
