Day 1 and the first saddling for this cute c**t!
Prior to this I used my feedsack flag to show him HOW to spook and disperse his nervous energy by moving around me (not over the top of me and not taking the slack out of the lead rope). Because he knows he is free to move his feet and I never make him feel trapped, sending him off saddled for the first time is a pretty low drama experience!
It is so important that these early experiences are done right.
I love how pure this c**t is because his owner didn't do much 'groundwork' with him outside a little baby training last year to get him broke to lead, tie, load on trailer and have his feet handled.
That's exactly how I like them prepped and as you can see, not only do they really not need much more than that in order to be successful in my program, but actually in a couple of weeks this guy will likely be ahead of others that came to me with more already done with them, as I won't have to spend any time undoing anything.
