Weatherby's Veterinary Update – The Mystery Is Solved!
Yesterday, Weatherby had his appointment with Dr. Driggers, and we have some wonderful news to share!
For the past week, Weatherby had been experiencing some clear nasal discharge. Since we were concerned about a possible sinus infection, he was started on medication while we waited for his appointment. He had been doing very well, but we still needed to find out what was causing the problem.
Well, yesterday we got our answer, and it wasn't what we expected!
During his examination, Dr. Driggers discovered something very interesting while examining a slide under the microscope. A tiny feather barb was lodged inside Weatherby's nostril!
Dr. Driggers was able to remove it, and the good news is that there was absolutely no bacteria present. That means Weatherby no longer needs his medication, and we believe that little feather barb was responsible for the trouble all along.
While he was there, Weatherby also had his nails trimmed, his weight checked, and his annual examination completed.
His weight was 241 grams!
So Weatherby is officially all caught up on his veterinary care, and we're delighted that this turned out to be something so simple.
Sometimes it's the tiniest things that cause the biggest concerns, especially when you're caring for parrots.
