This is so incredibly bittersweet to write, but I think if you’ve been coming to us for awhile you know that we are so big on transparency. When we started this journey to our new destination, our original plan was to keep the mall location open for as long as we could. Originally, we wanted to stay until the end of the year at the very least - or indefinitely if it worked out that way. The new boarding facility was supposed to be an extension instead of a replacement.
But, life… doesn’t always go as planned. I just cannot physically be in all the places I need to be in at once and some other things have come up in my personal life that just make the original plan unreasonable.
We had to make a choice, and while this has been in the works for the better part of half a year - we had to make that choice quickly.
The mall location, as of now - is essentially closed. We will finish out the grooms we have scheduled the rest of this month, and after that - everyone will go back to wondering where the puppy store went. Almost as if our blood, sweat and tears didn’t go into this space for the last year and a half.
We want to thank Salmon Run Mall for giving us our Watertown start and for doing what they were realistically able to do for us while we were here. Our leaving has nothing to do with them at all, or the rent, or the fact that it’s virtually impossible to thrive as a small business when the only thing the public wants inside of a mall are chain stores. (Literally… read a comment section about the mall even when every store is full and it’s all people stating there is “nothing” in the mall.)
We were there. And I’m glad we didn’t rely on the foot traffic of the mall walkers we could hear whispering about how we would “never last here”. Or about how “ridiculous it was to have dogs in and out” - even though I doubt anyone said that when the puppy mill dogs were in and out. But, I digress.
You were right. We weren’t gonna last there. Because we’re meant for more.
If you don’t follow us from this location to our next, we wish you the best. We still love your pets. We still love you for helping us grow.
If you do follow us… buckle up, the best is yet to come. ❤️
