I absolutely can't believe this boy turns 14 today 🥺. The BC that started it all for me. My OG.
14 years ago you were born on a farm, destined to be mine. I'd waited a long time for you and I knew a border collie would keep me on my toes... and then you were 10x more than I even expected 😂 but I adjusted lol and we have had so much fun over the last 14 yrs. You been the sweetest most intuitive dog I've met and I've watch you grow from a rambunctious puppy to the most gentle soul who accepted kittens, puppies, babies, and handicapped rescue dogs with so much patience and love.
You have been one of the best dogs I've ever known. And even though you've gone almost totally deaf and have decided that now that you're old, rules don't really apply to you- you're still such a good boy and I can always count on you.

I'm so glad I have finally been able to give this old man the farm life he's always deserved. With basically no formal training, he still does exactly what those border collie instincts tell him and manages to somehow do exactly what he needs to every time I need him to with the calves.
And a few years ago, I promised him that before he passed away I would make sure that we would move somewhere that he could have his very own sheep.... well, this weekend I'm making good on that promise, and we will be bringing home 4 Katahdins.
I worried that we wouldn't be able to make it happen before he died -- not that he's in bad shape or anything lol; you'd never even really know he was 14 😂 -- but I would have felt terrible if I wasn't able to fulfill this promise to him.
