🌼Fifth Avenue and Corinne Dickens were reserve champion in the Long Stirrup and 6th in the $2,000 Centerfold Farm Hunter Derby

We have many special Thoroughbreds that attend ExEL, making this award quite competitive!
We love seeing our TB entries grow! At our March show our Derby TB Stake saw record entries.

Our TB Excellence Award is gifted to a TB who stands out in performance and adaptability. This March, that horse was Broadcast Legend!

Broadcast Legend is an ExEL favorite! He always shows up ready to tackle whatever task may come his way! One show he plays in the jumper ring, the next he's top of the class in the hunter ring! When he's given a goal by his mom, he performs! It's always a joy to have Broadcast Legend at ExEL!

Congrats to his owner, Jordan, for developing and being a vital part of his journey!

We look forward to seeing what they accomplish together next!

Exciting news, superstar Nickelodeon, “Nikko”, is looking for his next kid to show the ropes to! He is 15, large pony that is ideal for the Short Stirrup job. Some of our crew had a fantastic week at Excel Spring🎉🐰🐣

-Broadcast Legend and Jordan Kay were🥇of the Thoroughbred Excellence Award and 6th in the Thorougbred Stake
-Bow Tie and Maddie Forbes were🥈in a class of the Short/Long stirrup
-Gordo and Alex Enos had CLEAR rounds only in the .70m
-Oberon and Kirksay Heard were reserve champion in the 2’3 and 4th in the Thoroughbred Stake
-Canebreak and Juli Enos were🥇in two of their 1.10m classes
-Delilah and Avery Wilson were 6th in the Open Derby and 7th in the Equitation Challenge
-Nickelodeon and Naomi Siddall were reserve champion in the Short/Long Stirrup and 8th in the Equitation Challenge
-Sunset N. and Sharon Moulder were champion in the Short/Long Stirrup and🥇the Sportsmanship Award
-Charmer and Anna Bagley were champion in the Rusty Stirrup
-Trigger Happy and Maddie Salder were reserve champion in the Cross-rail Jumpers

Very exciting news for Southern Traditions Farm to welcome new trainer Jennifer Olsen to the family!⭐️

Jennifer grew up in Connecticut and rode from a young age at her family’s Westbrook Hunt Club. She took over the riding responsibilities of breaking and developing young horses and sale horses from the age of 15 and turned professional at 21, after graduating from the University of Vermont. As a junior she showed in the equitation, hunters, and jumper rings competing at
indoors and finals, but brings to the industry a unique experience in young horse development. As a professional Jennifer has trained ponies and horses to Championships and major wins at Pony Finals, Junior Hunter Finals, Devon, Indoors and Equitation Finals ribbons. She has developed Smash, Farmore Charismatic (who won at Pony Finals), Sugarbrook Adorabelle (6th overall at pony finals and went on to be Champion at Devon), Ladies First (winner of WCHR 3’3 Junior Hunter Stake hunter week at WEF), Quateroy
(top 6 3’6 Junior Hunter Finals), Handsome DD (Classic winner at Junior Hunter Finals), and Spark of Phoenix (multiple Finals ribbons, top 25 at every final, multiple top 3 at Devon in the equitation). Jennifer has taught riders for 30 years from short stirrup to junior hunters, equitation finals, as well as through the jumper ranks, and is excited to share her knowledge and experience with our barn family!

We are so excited for this next chapter!🎉💙🤍

MHJA Christmas Classic (but in January😆) was nothing but filled with fun!

🎄Canebrake and Juli Enos were🥇in the Jumper Classic
🎄Ricky Bobby and Rachel Fitts were Champion in the 3’ Performance and🥉in Equitation Challenge Class
🎄Gordo and Alex Enos were 4th in the Jumper Classic, moved up to the .75s, and were 4th in the Christmas Sweater Derby
🎄Bow tie and Maddie Forbes were🥈in the Christmas Sweater Derby and were🥇in Short Stirrup Equitation Flat
🎄Dallas and Sharon Moulder were🥇in Long Stirrup
U/S and 5th in Equitation Challenge Class
🎄Nickelodeon and Naomi Siddall were🥈in one Short Stirrup Class and 5th in the Christmas Sweater Derby (even got a score of 84!!)
🎄Hey There Delilah and Avery Wilson were🥇in one 11/U class and only their second show together🎉
🎄Cadbury and Sela Samander were Reserve Champion in the Mini Stirrup and Pre-Short Stirrup
🎄Astro and SaraAnn were🥉in one Short Stirrup Equitation O/F class and their second show together🎉
🎄Al Capony and Silbey Brown did their first ever horse show🦄
🎄Nugget and Salma Samander did their first show and ended Reserve Champion in the Walk/Trot, Trot x

We couldn’t let the adults have all the fun, so we had to have a kids version too! 2025 Reindeer Games with our younger group was nothing but successful and full of fun memories! Ornament Relay, Mrs. Santa’s Skirt Relay, and finished off with hot dogs and s’mores🎄Great way to end the year🦌♥️❄️

The 2025 Rowdy (Adult) Reindeer Games 🦌🎯🎰🥂 we’re a great way to have some fun before the cold! We played Musial cones, champagne toast, ornament toss and Mrs Claus’ drawls race 🩲😂 and to cap it off we had a roast to celebrate our own 💕 we wish her all the best in Florida!

We made our own fun at home this weekend hosting our first annual Christmas in the SIP Holiday Show featuring just a few of Santa’s reindeer who came to play 🦌🎅🏻🎁👏🏻 congratulations to our Open Derby Winner, Sharon Mulder and Sunset N! And of course no barn day is complete without a visit to our friends at Plato Feliez 🌮🌯😍
