Hello, Everyone -
My name is Poca. I am a very friendly and spirited girl. I enjoy life a lot! I get along well with children, dogs, cats, and of course, the drive-thru employees at Starbucks who kindly give me 'pup cups' when I visit - lip-smacking delicious! I always hope my foster family will loop around to the drive-thru a second time so I can get another pup cup! 😂

I came from a family with six children, dogs, cats and a lot of chaos! My family wanted to move and worried about 'no pet policies'.
What if they found a rental home they really liked but the landlord did not allow pets?

That is how I arrived at Second Chance for Animals.

I'm learning how to walk on a leash and not to jump so much. I just can't help myself - I get so excited when I see people, I jump! ❤️

I love treats and Healthy Edibles Chew Bones. On my very first vet appt. with Dr. Carter at Humble Creatures Veterinary Clinic,
my foster family was told that I was a little underweight. That was wonderful news for me because now my family showers me with treats, bones, great food, and, trips to McDonald's and Starbuck's. I hope I stay 'underweight' for a long time! 😉

I haven't confirmed my ancestry with Ancestry.com but it has been said that l may be a descendent of 'Petey', Spanky's loyal dog from Our Gang/The Little Rascals show. Do you see the resemblance?

An update on our Rocco post from Monday, June 8th:

After posting the somber news of Rocco's passing, we learned that Rocco's mother, 'Sophie' crossed the Rainbow Bridge in April, 2026 - just 6 short weeks ago. ❤️‍🩹 Sophie was 14 years old. Sophie and her litter of puppies came to us from a callous and heartless backyard breeder whose only motive was money. Sophie was a nurturing and attentive mother, despite the challenges she faced keeping her puppies safe, fed, and protected. 🩷 Sophie's life changed dramatically for the best when she left her life of neglect and despair and landed in the arms of her adoptive mom, Ginger. There was no looking back for Sophie. She knew she was finally 'home'. 🦴 We were equally heartbroken upon hearing the news of Sophie's passing as we were Rocco's passing. We send our heartfelt condolences to Sophie's mom, Ginger. Our animals are never with us long enough. The 'goodbyes' are painful and tough.

If there is any silver lining at all in Sophie and Rocco's 'end of life' here on earth, we know they are now together, again. No doubt they are healthy, youthful and running in the meadow with each other. 🪻🌷 Eternal paradise. We are confident Sophie was there waiting for Rocco as he crossed the Bridge - what a reunion that must have been 🐾🐶

Forever loved and missed.

Thank you to Rocco's family, Taryn and Alex, and to Sophie's mom, Ginger, for giving Sophie and Rocco their very, very best life, ever. 🌹

It is a very sad day for Second Chance for Animals. One of our beloved dogs, Rocco, crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning. 🥀
Rocco was adopted from Second Chance, just about 13 years ago by the Eberhardt Family. Many of our followers are familiar with Rocco from his fun posts and his adorable photos. His last post was just four days ago as he was enjoying a lazy day on the couch. 🩵

Rocco's family ADORED him. Their profound love for him was evident in everything they did. Rocco was their world. . . their four-legged son. ❣️ Rocco won the hearts of everyone who met him. We are heartbroken over Rocco's passing. Many tears were shed upon hearing the devastating news. We were just talking about asking Rocco if he would be our Senior Canine Mascot.
We extend our deepest heartfelt condolences to Rocco's family. Rocco hit the jackpot the day he went home with Taryn and Alex. Rocco had a 'home of a lifetime', literally. You will be missed, sweet Rocco. 🐶🦴🐾
