We’ve been pretty quiet lately, and it’s because we’ve been busy! Between ball games, graduations, and finishing out the school year, we’ve been trying to finish the barn and arena while also starting on our forever home.
This arena has been a labor of love. Beyond thankful for those that have helped get it to this point and going to help finish it up. While we still have some work to do, it has come a LONG way. The machine we used from Missouri Rock Pickers did wonders!
While some kids have a swing set in their backyard, our girls will have this. As you can see in the video, there will be many loads of laundry and water hose showers in the future.

Happy Mother’s Day to the ranch mamas…the women who can bottle feed a calf before sunrise, pack lunches with one hand, and swing a gate open with the other. 🤍

The kind of moms who know how to doctor animals, calm scared kids, haul feed, wash muddy clothes, cook supper after a long day, and still somehow remember who needed what for school tomorrow. The women who keep the ranch running behind the scenes while making it look easy…even when it absolutely isn’t.

Ranch moms are tough in a way the world doesn’t always see.
They sacrifice quietly.
They put themselves last more times than they should.
They keep pushing through exhaustion, worry, and stress because somebody has to hold it all together.

And most days? They’re the duct tape holding the whole operation together. Barely hanging on themselves sometimes…but still showing up. Still loving hard. Still giving everything they have.

But the greatest thing about a praying mama is this: when the world feels heavy and life gets uncertain, there is no stronger defense standing beside you than a mother on her knees praying for her family.

So today we celebrate the women who raise babies and livestock, grow faith and families, hold homes together, and love fiercely through every season.

To all the ranch moms, farm moms, bonus moms, grandmas, and mother figures…we see you, we appreciate you, and this world would fall apart without you.

Happy Mother’s Day from our ranch to yours. 🌾🐴🙏

It was a heartbreaking afternoon for us 💔
When Annie had her first foal about 7 years ago, we had to make the hard decision to put it down at a couple weeks old after what we thought was a fractured or compressed vertebrate. BUT today we learned that was not the case….
Brent noticed Annie’s recent filly showing the exact same symptoms as that stud c**t did. Wobbly back end, crossing back ankles, high stepping, falling down, and unable to get back up….terrible to watch. After some research and conversations with our vet, we hypothesized that Annie carries a rare genetic neurological disorder,
EJSCA. We had Annie panel tested before breeding, as we do all our mares, and she came back clean across the boards. We never dreamed that we would be dealing with a fatal genetic disease.
Knowing what was to come, we made the hard decision to not let the disease progress and put the filly through that terrible process. So we said goodbye to sweet “Oakley”, the filly that we thought would never be born, the perfect little mini of her mama.
Goodbyes are never easy, and despite how short this baby was with us, it was a heartbreaking loss.

I realized I forgot to share when this over-baked filly finally arrived! 🤦🏽‍♀️
If you are a Playgun fan, she will be your cup of tea ☕️
This filly is by Playtonium (a Metallic Cat son out of a Playgun mare) and Rojos Quixote Pistol (our big b***d ranch mare who also has Playgun and Blue Valentine genetics). Mom’s name is “Annie” so we shall call her mini version “Oakley”. 🤠

As the sun rises on this beautiful Easter morning, we’re reminded of the true meaning behind today… a promise fulfilled, hope renewed, and a love greater than anything we could ever imagine.

In the middle of busy days, chores, and everyday life on the farm, it’s easy to get caught up in it all—but today is a gentle reminder to pause, reflect, and be thankful for the blessings we’ve been given.

From our farm to your family, we wish you a joyful and peaceful Easter filled with hope, love, and new beginnings. 🌅✝️🐴

There’s just something about life in the country ❤️

Where the sunsets stretch wide across the sky like a painted masterpiece…
Where the night falls clear enough to see every single star shining above…

Where the soundtrack isn’t traffic or sirens—but birds singing, crickets chirping, and frogs calling from the water’s edge.

No city lights. No constant noise.
No neighbors right on top of you.

Just space. Just peace. Just freedom.

Out here, we get the rare gift of being fully ourselves—unfiltered and unhurried.
It’s just us and God’s creations, and the simple reminder to slow down and take it all in. 🙏🐴❤️

Little by little…..
