What would you rather see in your dog’s bowl? 👀

A bowl full of highly processed pellets… or real, recognizable whole foods that actually look like food?

This is one of the reasons I love fresh feeding.

Fresh food allows us to build meals around quality protein, fresh veggies, healthy fats, and other nutrient-dense foods while tailoring the diet to the individual dog in front of us.

Research has found that fresh diets can be more digestible than kibble and improve their gut microbiome and metabolic health.

That doesn’t mean there’s one “perfect” way to feed every dog. Every dog and family has different needs, budgets, and circumstances.

But when we can incorporate more fresh, whole foods into our dogs’ diets, we have an opportunity to provide bioavailable nutrients and bring more variety and nourishment to the bowl.

Last week I had the incredible opportunity to attend Dr. Ruth Roberts Holistic Pet Health Coach Conference!

We had the opportunity to tour Standard Process , thesimplefoodproject , Herbsmith, Inc. , and Medicus Veterinary Diets facilities. I often recommend products from these companies to my clients, so being able to see firsthand how they source, formulate, test, and maintain their quality standards was incredibly valuable. Seeing the care and attention that goes into these products, and the standards they hold themselves to, really blew me away.

We also had so many great sessions including learning Tongue and Pulse diagnosis directly from Dr. Chris Bessent , founder of Herbsmith, The Simple Food Project, and Medicus.
Dr. Carol Smeja, founder of The Original mine Pet Platter, had some wonderful sessions on the science of feeding and business building.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to learn from these two incredible veterinarians, spend time with other pet professionals, and continue growing my knowledge!

God created light from the very beginning and called His creation good. And I think it’s pretty incredible that we’re continuing to discover the ways He designed light to interact with living things.

Red light therapy, also called photobiomodulation, uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to interact with cells and support the body’s natural repair and recovery processes.

Some of the benefits of red light therapy include:
• Supporting healthy circulation
• Helping manage inflammation and swelling
• Supporting pain relief and recovery
• Supporting cellular energy production
• Supporting wound and tissue repair
• Supporting muscle and joint recovery
• Supporting bone healing

So when might I recommend red light therapy to a client?

It can be a great supportive tool to incorporate into a pet’s wellness plan, particularly when we’re looking to support:

🐾 Mobility and joint comfort, especially in older pets or those experiencing stiffness
🐾 Recovery after exercise, activity, or physical therapy
🐾 A healthy inflammatory response
🐾 Circulation and tissue support
🐾 Skin and wound support, alongside appropriate veterinary care
🐾 Overall cellular support

I don’t believe there’s one tool that does it all. Red light therapy is just one more tool in the toolbox, alongside nutrition, movement, herbs, and other foundational practices.

It’s non-invasive and low-risk modality. As with any therapeutic tool, the wavelength, intensity, treatment time, and individual situation matter.

I love learning about tools like this and the incredible ways God has designed creation to support the body.

𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫 🐔🌿

One of the simplest ways I support our flock’s health, without relying on harsh chemical dewormers that can be hard on the gut.

Using organic herbs, I made this 1 lb blend for $17.97, and it mixes right into a 50 lb bag of feed.

✨ Food really can be medicine, even for your chickens!

The blend (for 1 lb total):
• Oregano – 12.5% (2 oz)
• Chili flakes – 15% (2.4 oz)
• Cayenne – 23.5% (3.76 oz)
• Garlic – 21% (3.36 oz)
• Black pepper – 23% (3.68 oz)
• Flax seeds – 5% (0.8 oz)

➡️ Add 1 lb of this mix per 50 lb bag of feed

Why this over conventional dewormers?
While chemical dewormers have their place, they can be tough on the gut and disrupt the natural balance of the microbiome.

This blend works differently, it helps:
• Support a healthy gut environment
• Promote digestion and nutrient absorption
• Encourage balance so parasites are less likely to thrive
• Support the immune system naturally

This is part of a bigger picture:
