🐾 Training isn’t just about sit, stay, and come—it’s about building confidence!

Exposing your dog to new places, different surfaces, unfamiliar sounds, people, and other animals helps them learn how to navigate the world calmly and confidently.

But safe exposure is not the same as forced interaction. Your dog doesn’t need to greet every person or dog they see. Sometimes successful socialization means watching another dog from a comfortable distance, exploring a new surface at their own pace, or simply learning to relax in a new environment.

We want to encourage curiosity and reward calm behavior while respecting when a dog needs more space. The goal isn’t to make your dog interact with everything—it’s to teach them that they can experience new things and still feel safe. 💜🐕

Hi, I’m Alexis Swenson, owner and trainer of Sit Happens Dog Training. Animals have been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember. I bring a lifetime of dog ownership, 4 years of professional dog training experience, and over 30 years of riding, training, and showing horses to every client I work with.

My passion is helping dogs and their owners build strong, positive relationships through effective, reward-based training. Whether working with puppies, basic obedience, leash manners, or behavior challenges, I focus on creating practical, customized training plans that fit each dog’s individual needs. My goal is to make training enjoyable, build confidence for both dogs and owners, and create lasting results that strengthen the bond between them.
