🎓 Graduation Alert!

This one’s a little tough for me to post….

Please help me congratulate LOU, the Labrador Retriever from Austin, Texas, on graduating from the West Texas Dog Trainer Off-Leash Obedience Program!

Lou came to me at just four months old, full of potential and in need of a SERIOUS guidance. Over the past six weeks, I’ve worked with him every single day, building the foundation that will help him grow into an incredible companion. Watching him transform has been nothing short of amazing.

Today, his wonderful family picked him up, and seeing their excitement and pride made all the hard work worthwhile. Moments like these are why I love what I do.

Lou, I know you’re heading back to the Capital City where you’ll continue to thrive and grow with your family. I have no doubt you’ll become the talk of every walk through Zilker Park. Your future is incredibly bright.

Lia and Charles, thank you for trusting me with your little boy. You both have done an outstanding job, and I know you’ll continue building on everything Lou has learned. He’s lucky to have such a loving family, and I can’t wait to see all the adventures you’ll share together.

Let's clear up a common misconception.

I've seen people claim that if a breeder's OFA results aren't publicly searchable, it means the testing wasn't done. That simply isn't true.

For reference, we currently have:
• 63 results in our private OFA account.
• 38 results in our private Embark account.

Those results exist, they just aren't publicly displayed without the proper information.

It's also important to understand that searching the OFA database isn't always as simple as typing in a kennel name. You generally need the dog's registered name or registration number to locate a specific record. In our case, several of our dogs live in wonderful guardian homes and are known by their everyday call names, which often differ from their registered names. That can make searching even more confusing for someone who doesn't have the correct information.

It's also worth noting that many genetic tests beyond hips and elbows require an additional fee to be made public on the OFA website. Choosing not to pay for public posting does not mean the testing wasn't performed.

So why are our records private?

Because they're simply not everyone's business. We gladly share the health testing for the parents of puppies with our families and prospective families when it's relevant. That's who the information is for.

Unfortunately, anyone involved with dilute Labrador Retrievers knows there are online groups whose sole purpose is to target and harass silver Lab breeders, regardless of the quality of their breeding program or the health testing they complete. We choose not to provide those groups with unnecessary access to our records.

The screenshots below show our private accounts. Not because we owe anyone proof, but because misinformation continues to spread.

We will continue to prioritize the health of our dogs, complete the appropriate testing, and be transparent with the families who trust us. That's what matters most.

AKC Inspection, and we nailed it! I heard the inspector say "wow" under her breath several times as she walked around our property and home. She congratulated us for a job well done and complimented how beautiful and well cared for our dogs and puppies are. Thank you, AKC!
