Horses have truly helped us appreciate the little things in life with everything they have taught us.

Here at the farm we learn hard work, keep our wits about us throughout trials, and face each day with perseverance and grit because we know what truly matters.

Let our horses help you find that part of life you may be missing. The mares are wonderful at helping us heal and giving us true joy. 🧡

Whether you want to volunteer some or have some sessions yourself to learn the way of the horses, we'd love to have you or your child experience the heart of the horse. 🐴❤️

Myth Monday:

Horses Only Kick When They’re Angry

While a kick can certainly be a sign of aggression, it’s not the only reason a horse might use its powerful hind legs. Kicking is a natural defensive behavior used to ward off threats, whether from a predator or another horse trying to assert dominance.

A horse might also kick out due to pain, discomfort, or even fear. A sudden kick could be a reaction to a fly bite or a response to a rider’s confusing cue. Learning to read a horse’s body language is key to understanding the motivation behind a kick.

A horse also kicks out when at play! When the horse is feeling especially spry and spunky kicks usually occur, sometimes by their self and other times at others around them!

➡️Myth #1 (taken from gladiator equine website)

Horses Only Sleep Standing Up

One of the most famous myths about horses is that they spend their entire lives on their feet, even when sleeping. While it’s true that horses can doze while standing — a handy trick to escape predators quickly — they cannot achieve the deep, restorative REM sleep they need in this position.
For true REM sleep, a horse must lie down completely. This allows their muscles to fully relax. You’ll often see horses that are in a safe, comfortable herd environment, taking turns lying down for a deep sleep while others stand guard.

💥Volunteer Spotlight #1!!

💛We would like to introduce you to Anna!!

This sweet 16 year old has been faithfully volunteering with us since November and has about 35 hours logged of volunteering. Anna is dedicated, reliable, consistent, and has such a positive attitude. She loves the outdoors and has many skills and talents that she enjoys sharing with others. Anna also got her first job at an establishment this spring!

We are so very grateful & blessed to have Anna volunteer with us and to know her. 🥰 Of course our 1st volunteer spotlight would have to go out to our 1st volunteer who has reliably showed up weekly and recruited others! 🥳
