Before you read this understand Cali Cats Rescue have 31 cats 28 of them kittens set for intakes this coming week and who thinks it would be easy to say we just cant do it now... its not possible.

When you give practically your entire life up to Rescue for years and take just the tiniest step back to be a little more present in your personal life, it feels like karma is pi**ed.

We have been playing catch up with our finances since January. Iam finding it practically impossible to get us where we need to be to continue doing the work we all care about a ton.
We have so many wonderful volunteers that give their time, their homes, their hearts and so much more. We have wonderful donors who have picked up the pieces for us and make it possible for us to stay afloat. However we are barely keeping our heads above water.
At this point when we ask for donations its literally the difference in taking or not taking a cat in. We are trying to sale an extra round of tickets but we are struggling to do even that. We have an event coming up... but we have outstanding bills totaling close to $5000 plus dentals coming up, sick cats, and an ever growing fix ur cat bill.
We need you. PERIOD. Moreso these cats really really need you. Personally Iam stressed more than I ever have been and more than anyone should be. The weight and worry that comes with being the thing standing between a healthy kitten with a bright future and a skinny flea-covered sick kitten with a sad bleak future if any at all. Its not fair. I hate it... but everything is expensive and everything cost money.
Kindness is free, yes.... but even that only gets us so far.

We need sponsorships for these kitties 31 of them.
We need to sale alot more tickets.
And if you can just make a donation

We have the same issue...tweens, teens and adults stay in rescue waiting for their people. Once we post kittens, we get so many messages and emails. So if you think you may want a cat, consider one a little "older"

It’s something we see over and over again, and it’s honestly heartbreaking.

We have incredible adult cats who have been waiting for their furever homes for over 2 years. Over 2 years of being overlooked. Over 2 years of watching people come in, meet them…and then choose someone else.

And then we post kittens.

Within hours, our inbox is flooded with applications. Dozens. Sometimes more applications than we even have kittens available.

We get it. Kittens are cute, tiny, and new. But here’s the part we wish more people understood…

Those kittens? They grow up. Fast.

Meanwhile, our adult cats are already through the chaos. They’ve grown into their personalities. They know how to love. They’re past the 3am zoomies, the curtain climbing, the “what is this and can I knock it over?” phase.

All they need is someone to choose them.

So if you’ve been thinking about adopting, we’re asking you to pause for a moment and look at the cats who have been waiting the longest. The bonded ones. The seniors who just want a place to live out their golden years. The slightly medicated ones who just need a little something to get by. The ones who have already lost their original families and need a new family to grow old with. The ones who don’t get the spotlight. The ones who don’t get the applications.

Because the best cat you’ll ever have might not be a kitten.

It might be the one who’s been waiting all this time just for you. 🐾💛

Some days in rescue are incredibly hard. Yesterday, our foster lost the last kitten to a 10 year old mom. This is so heartbreaking for the mom cat and for our foster. And it could have been prevented if mom had been fixed. If someone had cared enough to get Sherbet vetted to keep her from having kittens at such a mature age.
Cats don’t have a team of doctors to monitor their care or even someone to watch over them while they’re in labor. Especially if they are outside. They give birth alone and scared. These moms have to protect their babies while looking for food and shelter. And now this mom and her foster will grieve the loss of her last baby. And we will continue to fight for these babies. Because they need a voice and people to advocate for them. We will miss you custard! Run free little man 🌈
From his foster Michelle Lynne
Oh lil buddy, your tiny paws have left such a big space in our home and in our hearts. I found out yesterday that Custard was born with a defect where his intestines were up into his diaphragm. He, along with his other two siblings that had previously passed, had a lot of issues, but this was very unexpected and he was in a lot of pain, could not swallow soft food, and nothing surgically could be done. I feel so bad for Mama Sherbet. 😢❤️🐾 Cali Cats Rescue
