Happy National Pet Month from Justin! 🐾💚

“This is Justin, who suffered a urinary blockage in December 2024. He is doing amazingly today on his prescription diet. He loved everyone he met at VERG — everyone took incredible care of him and communication from the staff with me was amazing. We are so grateful for VERG for being there for him when he needed it most!

Justin is the cutest, best lil guy. He got a 0 on the FAS score and made friends with one and all during his stay at VERG! 😻“

Thank you so much to Justin’s family for sharing his story with us! We’re beyond happy to hear he’s thriving and feeling so much better. Stories like his remind us why we do what we do every day. 🐱✨

For National Pet Month, we’re celebrating pets like Figure Eight (“Figgy”) 💚

One year ago, Figgy was hospitalized for severe kidney failure and later went home as a “fospice” cat. What started as giving him comfort and love turned into a forever home.

Since then, Figgy has been thriving- gaining 4 pounds, rediscovering his love for food and play, and showing everyone the power of a second chance. While he still lives with CKD and other medical challenges, he continues to prove just how resilient animals can be.

Thank you for sharing your story with us, and happy National Pet Month to Figgy and all the pets who make our lives brighter every day! 🐾

Happy National Pet Month from Shark “Bad Boy” & Shady “Pretty Girl” 🐾💚

These adorable pups belong to our veterinary technician, Stephanie, and have brought so much love and healing into her life. Shark (Poodle mix) and Shady (Schnoodle) love playing with their pizza and sushi toys, and can never say no to a fish disc treat. 🍕🍣🐟

“After we lost our Schnauzer, Shakes, at just 2 years old, they came into our lives about 3 months after her passing. We notice the little things we saw from her in them and just know she’s always with us.” ❤️

Happy National Pet Month from Bailey! 🐾💚

“Hi, this is Bailey. We came to VERG for an emergency visit and he was diagnosed with IVDD. We also did the TPLO surgery at VERG for both his knees. Very thankful for the staff at VERG for helping him out when he was in pain. He is going to be 15 years old this month, still full of energy and doing much better now. Still doing BARKOUR (JK).”

We are incredibly proud to celebrate our very own Christine and Roselle on being named joint recipients of the ASPCA Heroes in Human Services Award through the ASPCA Community Engagement Program 🧡🐾

This award recognizes their compassionate work supporting a client facing terminal illness while navigating difficult medical decisions for her beloved pet, Cecilia. Together, they helped ensure the client received clear guidance, emotional support, and access to the care her pet needed during an incredibly challenging time.

Roselle’s dedication to supporting clients goes far beyond her responsibilities as a CSR. She went out of her way to personally support this client throughout the process, helping bridge language barriers, personally helping with transportation for appointments, and ensuring the client felt heard, supported, and cared for every step of the way.

More than just a Veterinary Social Worker, Christine’s commitment to compassionate, client-centered care and advocacy for both pets and their people continues to reflect the very best of veterinary medicine and our community. Her dedication to this philosophy was shown in how she went above and beyond supporting Cecilia, her owner, and her VERG team.

Congratulations to both of you on this well-deserved recognition. We are so grateful to have you as part of the VERG family. 🥹💚

💩🐾 It’s National Scoop the P**p Week and in a city like NYC, it matters more than you think.

With busy sidewalks and shared spaces, cleaning up after your pet isn’t just about being courteous- it’s essential for keeping our communities safe, clean, and walkable for everyone.

Pet waste isn’t harmless, either. It can carry bacteria and parasites, get washed into our waterways through storm drains, and despite common belief, it’s not a good fertilizer!

Every walk is an opportunity to do your part. We’ve been handing out free p**p bag dispensers in our lobby to help make clean-up easier on every walk! Have you gotten yours yet?

Bring a bag, scoop every time, and help protect the spaces we all share. Thank you for helping keep our city clean and our pets and neighbors healthy. 💚🐾
