Today is all about celebrating our four-legged best friends — the goofy ones, the cuddly ones, the troublemakers, the adventure buddies, and every pup in between. 🐶

🩺 When your pet comes to the ER, monitoring their vital signs is an important part of understanding how they're doing and how their condition may be changing.

Our team closely monitors things like heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and blood pressure throughout a patient's care. Even small changes can give our doctors and nurses important information and help guide treatment.

It may look like a simple blood pressure check, but these little moments of monitoring can make a big difference in a patient's care. 🐾

Sometimes a little fresh air is good for everyone. 🌿🐾

Concrete jungle? No problem! Our beautiful outdoor space gives our patients a safe, open area to stretch their legs while allowing our specialists to observe important movements and behaviors during their exams. Here, Dr. Egnor, our Neurologist, is able to assess Hot Dog’s gait and other movements in a more open and natural setting, providing valuable information when evaluating neurological conditions.

And as an added bonus, our patients and team get to enjoy a little sunshine and fresh air along the way. 💚

We’re proud to offer Neurology care right here at VERG Brooklyn, where our board-certified veterinary specialists have access to advanced diagnostics and a collaborative team to help evaluate and treat complex neurological conditions. 🧠🐾

Meet Pemby! ❤️

Pemby came to VERG Brooklyn’s Internal Medicine service with severe anemia and required multiple blood transfusions and intensive care in our ICU. We’re happy to share that this sweet guy is now recovering very well and continues to see our Internal Medicine specialist, Dr. Kit Sanders, regularly for ongoing care.

And of course, every visit is a little better with your best friend by your side! Pemby is pictured here with his favorite Internal Medicine technician, Renee, who has been there for him throughout his journey.

We’re so proud of how far this special guy has come! ❤️🐾

Many of you saw our update on our stories, but we wanted to extend a huge THANK YOU to everyone both on the VERG team as well as members of our community who helped in the search and to spread the word!

Callie was reunited with her family last night unharmed. In the midst of our search, we actually found ANOTHER lost dog and reunited that pup with her family as well! Wow!

We are so grateful for our community and how much love, care, dedication, and compassion was experienced in the midst of all of this. This goes to show how important it is to show up for your neighbors when they need you, as you never know when you will need them as well. ❤️

We love our Brooklyn (and larger NYC) community. We are who we are and can do what we do only because of YOU! 🐾🫂💚

🚨 UPDATE: CALLIE HAS BEEN FOUND!!!

MISSING DOG – Please Help Us Find Callie 🚨

While Callie was with her owner waiting to be seen following triage, Callie slipped out of her collar, ran away from her owner and out of our waiting room.

She was last seen in the Cobble Hill area. The only identification she is wearing is a green VERG ID band that was placed on her during triage, which includes her owner’s contact information as well as our hospital’s information.

Some patients show up for their appointment... Bradley arrived. ✨

Looking incredibly dapper in his button-up while waiting for his oncology recheck, Bradley reminded us that a little style goes a long way.

Our Oncology team is dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized care for pets diagnosed with cancer. From advanced diagnostics and treatment planning to chemotherapy and ongoing monitoring, we're here to support patients and their families every step of the way.

🚨 FOUND DOG – PLEASE SHARE 🚨

This sweet pup, currently being called "Pitkin," was found after being struck by a car near the intersection of Pitkin Ave and Bradford St in Brooklyn. He is currently receiving care and is safe, but we are hoping to help reunite him with his family as quickly as possible.

At this time, he does not have a microchip, and we have not been able to identify an owner.

If you recognize him or have any information that may help us locate his family, please contact VERG Brooklyn immediately.
