THIS is the power of community!! ❤️
One dog. Four states. And a whole lot of people who refused to give up.
Meet Hensley. ❤️
Hensley was adopted as a puppy in Oklahoma. She had a home and someone who loved her.
But about a year later, her person's health was rapidly declining, and they could no longer care for her. With no family able to take her in, Hensley was at risk of being euthanized.
The rescuer in Oklahoma who had originally placed Hensley as a puppy spent MONTHS trying to find somewhere safe for her to go.
Then someone in Wisconsin saw her story.
That person connected with a rescuer in Missouri, who reached out to Amy here at MARS in Minnesota.
We had a place for Hensley! But there was one big problem.
How were we going to get her from Oklahoma to Minnesota?
For weeks, transportation plans weren't coming together.
Then Liz, the wonderful woman in Wisconsin who helped make these connections, happened to be traveling to Oklahoma for her high school reunion.
And she had room for one very special passenger. ❤️
Liz brought Hensley all the way to Minnesota, where her MARS foster family was waiting to welcome her.
The rescuer in Oklahoma cried when she said goodbye to Hensley. And after spending just 30 hours with her, Liz understood why. She'd fallen in love with this sweet girl, too.
Today, Hensley is safe, happy, and settling into foster care.
THIS is what happens when a community comes together.
Someone saw a post. Someone made a connection. Someone offered a foster home. Someone drove hundreds of miles.
And because each of them did their part, Hensley is alive today.
Not everyone can foster. Not everyone can adopt. Not everyone can drive across the country.
But sharing a post, making a connection, or helping spread the word can make a difference you may never even know about.
To everyone who helped get Hensley to MARS, and to the foster family who opened their home to her, THANK YOU.
You gave this girl another chance.
Where All Roads Lead Home. ❤️
