🍌 🐰💕 The part of Brookie’s story we haven’t told…
If you’ve been following the bakery, you probably already know little Brookie. 🥹 But you might not know just how much she struggled in the beginning — or who helped give her a second chance.
Brookie was one of seven babies, and from the start she was significantly smaller than her siblings. Competing with six bigger babies for momma’s milk was hard, and she quickly began falling behind.
She was so frail that when we held her, it felt like she weighed nothing. All we could feel was bone and fur. 💔
We gave her private nursing time with mom, supplemented her feedings, and did everything we could to help her along. But with six bigger siblings competing alongside her, Brookie was still struggling.
That’s when Banana Pudding came in. 🍌💕
Banana Pudding had just welcomed four healthy babies — her very first successful litter. With a smaller litter of her own, we decided to take a chance and see if she would accept Brookie as a fifth.
She did. 🥹
She took Brookie in like she had always been hers — nursing her, cleaning her, and raising her right alongside her own four babies. Brookie went from competing with six much bigger siblings for a spot at the milk bar to having the extra opportunity she desperately needed.
And slowly, that tiny, frail baby began to thrive. 🐰💕
But what makes this part of Brookie’s story so special is that Banana Pudding almost never got the chance to become her momma.
Just a few months earlier, Banana Pudding was the one fighting for her life.
Her first pregnancy nearly took her from us. She lost her entire litter, had underdeveloped babies still inside her, stopped eating and drinking, and her kidneys began failing. There were emergency vet visits, medications, overnight stays, and a point where we truly didn’t know if she would come home. 💔
But Banana Pudding fought. She recovered. She got her second chance.
A few months ago, Banana Pudding was the little life we were fighting so desperately to save. We gave her a second chance, never knowing that just a few months later, she would become the reason another tiny life got one too. 🥹🍌💕
Today, Brookie is gaining weight, eating completely on her own, getting into trouble, and becoming the silly little bunny so many of you have watched grow.
Thank you, Banana Pudding, for reminding us that sometimes a second chance can become so much bigger than the life it was originally given to. 🍌💕
