Cell phones have consumed us.

Currently, we are in SOS mode. Verizon is having a Nationwide outage. They are expecting it to hopefully be resolved in an hour.

My mind immediately went to “what am I going to do? I can’t call Davey. How am I going to tell Meagan I have Josiah? This is not good!”

Quickly, I thought, “what did we do when we didn’t have phones? We went to school/work, ran errands, and went home. Everyone came home and talked about what they did that day. We survived and we will survive this outage.”

Cell phones have consumed our lives and not always in a positive way. It might be time to take a step back and disconnect from it a while.

Guess what day it is? It’s Rosca de Reyes aka Three Kings Day. Of course, I had to head over to Cornelio’s Bakery to pick up our Three Kings Day Cake. They always have a ton of these ready for pick up and come in several different flavors. Fresa is our usual go to but this year I got Nutella chocolate! This has become a tradition in our house and the kids love it! If you don’t know, Three Kings' Day (or Epiphany) on January 6th commemorates the biblical visit of the Magi (Three Wise Men: Melchior, Caspar, Balthazar) bringing gifts to baby Jesus, marking the end of the Christmas season and the manifestation of Christ to the world.

The Three Kings Cake tradition celebrates Epiphany (January 6th) with a crown-shaped sweet bread, symbolizing the Magi's journey, often decorated in purple, green, and gold for Mardi Gras season, and featuring a hidden trinket (like a baby figurine) that signifies good luck and makes the finder "king" or "queen" for the day, often responsible for hosting the next party.

Can’t wait for the kids to get home this afternoon!🎉

On the 14th day of November, we are grateful for our grandkids. They taught us about a love greater than what we experienced having kids. They have kept us young and broke, if you know what I mean. I’ve been told I don’t know how to tell them no🤣 the are definitely our pride and joy!

On the 12th day of November, I am grateful for the ability to walk. In 2008, I crushed my L4 and L5. In July 2009, I had back surgery and have walked upright ever since. Thank God for His guiding the doctors hands and for healing me.

On the 11th day of November, we are so grateful for our veterans. Because of our veterans, we can proudly say we are the land of the free home of the brave. Have you ever thought about all our veterans? Have you ever thought about all the many jobs they have? Many have fought on the front lines. Many have left their families not knowing when or if they would return. Many worked behind the scenes preparing the equipment that other veterans would go into battle with. Many waited knowing others would need them if or when they were injured. Every one had a very important job and did it for our freedom. My dad is one of those men. Today, we are grateful for our veterans and we honors all of them. All gave some, some gave all! Today, as we think about what they have done for us, take a moment just to say THANK YOU! God bless America and God bless our veterans!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Oops I did it again…

On this 10th day of November, we are grateful for the small things, like snow. While we didn’t really get much, flurries are a big thing to Floridians, but it actually stuck last night! (Yes, we are originally from Florida.) it’s just so pretty. We went from throwing cow patties and oranges to snow ball fights. I mean that’s something to be grateful for isn’t it? 🤔🤪❄️⛄️here are just a few pics we got. One is at our house last night and one is our youngest daughter’s apartment in Asheville. Stay warm and safe❤️

On this 9th day of November, I’m grateful for a Pastor who steps on toes. If my toes are being stepped on, then he is preaching what I need to hear. I’m glad our pastor isn’t politically correct but biblically correct. 🙏🏻❤️

On this 8th day of November, I’m grateful for family and our little adventures now addictions. To celebrate my sisters birthday, we made a trip to Walnut Creek Farm to see the highland cattle. They had an adorable Christmas display for taking pictures so we tried. The highland babies are so precious and YES WE WANT SOME!!! Time with family is something you have to cherish because honestly, you never know how much time you got. Our little family is the most beautiful thing I got and I’m so grateful God chose them to be mine. (The whole crew didn’t get to come but I promise I was there as was mom and dad. We just love taking pictures of the kids❤️)

On this 7th day of November, I am grateful for my nail and pedi techs. They are a husband and wife team. They are the best at what they do and have become great friends of mine. They not only take care of me but my family. When I found them, I didn’t just find someone to paint my nails and shape them, I found friends that care about me, my wellbeing and my family. Sometimes, it’s the little things that mean the most. Their friendship is more valuable than even the services they provide for me. ❤️
