When Mom and Dad go on vacation and you need one of Mommy’s sleepy shirts just to get you to eat 🥹💕

Myles was having a hard time adjusting to boarding while his family was away, so we made a few adjustments and brought him some extra comforts from home. Some of his favorite toys, blankets and one of Mom’s worn T-shirts made all the difference. Once he had those familiar belongings and her scent with him, he started eating almost immediately. 🥹

When your dog stays with me, they’re never just another mouth to feed. Their feelings matter. Their comfort matters. Helping them adjust and feel safe matters. 🫶🏼

Myles is clearly a deeply loved member of his family, and he made sure I knew just how much he loves them too. 🤗💕

Linda and Zaura put in some great work during their lesson! 🐾

They practiced a hands-free heel, worked through seek-and-find exercises, and built stronger focus while calmly ignoring passersby. Zaura stayed engaged, worked through each challenge, and showed just how much this team continues to grow together. 🖤

Super proud of Indi! 🥹👏🏼 Today, we transitioned her off the prong collar and into a slip collar and she did beautifully!

When I introduce a prong collar as a training tool, it is never intended to be a long-term solution. My goal is always to build the communication, engagement, and reliability needed for a dog to heel safely using the softest level of control possible.

Tools can help us teach, but progress means needing less, not more. So proud of this girl and how far she’s come! She is getting closer and closer to her CGC Testing and I love watching this team grow with each lesson! 🖤🐾

We’re heading into a very busy September here at Joyful Journey K9 with private lessons, board-and-train dogs, group training, and some exciting new opportunities on the way! 👀

AKC Canine Good Citizen and AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy classes will officially be coming to JJK9! 🎉 More information and registration details will be shared soon.

🐾💜 HAPPY NATIONAL DOG DAY! 💜🐾

Coming in fashionably late because apparently spending all day with dogs does not mean I’ll remember the holiday dedicated to them. 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

Dogs are quite literally the heart of what I do.

They’re our companions, our coworkers, our teachers, our comic relief, our comfort, and for some, a lifeline and a little extra independence. 🦮💜

I get the privilege of watching dogs learn, watching people learn to communicate with them, and watching incredible partnerships form right in front of me and I’ll never stop being grateful that this gets to be my job.

So here’s to the puppies, the seniors, the working dogs, the service dogs, the perfectly trained dogs, the hot mess express dogs, and every good boy & girl in between. 🐶

Give yours an extra treat from me tonight. 🫶🏼

Long, hot, but such a good day! ☀️🥵💙

Carter is transitioning over to his person so incredibly well, and my heart is just so full watching it happen. 🥹🦮

Watching the two of them figure each other out, learn how to communicate, build trust, and start forming their bond is truly one of the best parts of my job.

I’ve spent so much time teaching Carter what he needs to know for this moment and now I get to watch him learn his person. 💙

Little by little, he’s becoming less my trainee and more his service dog. 🥹

And that’s the whole point. 🫶🏼

🚨🐾 BIG NEWS FOR JOYFUL JOURNEY K9!! 🐾🚨

IT’S OFFICIAL!!! 🥹💜

I am now an APPROVED AKC CGC EVALUATOR! 🎉

This has been something I’ve been working toward behind the scenes, and I’m SO excited to finally be able to add this to the services offered through Joyful Journey K9!

As an AKC CGC Evaluator, I am now approved to administer:

🐶 AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy
🏅 Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
🌎 AKC Community Canine (CGCA)
🏙️ Urban CGC (CGCU)
🏠 Virtual Home Manners
🎓 AKC Trick Dog Tests

And we’re not stopping there! 👀

This also opens the door for me to pursue approval as an AKC Temperament Test Evaluator and AKC FIT DOG Instructor — both of which are absolutely on my radar.

I am constantly looking for ways to continue my education, grow as a trainer, and bring more opportunities to the dogs and handlers who trust me to be part of their journey.

I’m incredibly excited for what this means for JJK9 and our training community. 💜🐾
