Hi everyone! is pulling together a project for anti-street harassment week and we're still looking for people to get involved! We are having a meeting over video chat all day today so you can call in whenever! Were looking for activists from around Massachusetts to participate. You can remain anonymous or choose to sign your name to the project!!

Everyone is limited as to what they can do right now and we understand that. We're looking for people to help incorporate their interests, whatever they may be, into a project that fights back against harassment. No one should be made to feel uncomfortable in any situation. These two young women were walking and minding their own business when a man circled them on a bicycle and felt that he had the right to comment on the way they looked. There is nothing wrong with respectfully complimenting someone but circling someone and then watching them is not the way to do it. Keep your comments to yourself.

Women should be able to walk down the street and not feel as though they are at risk for harassment or potentially more. Just leave women alone, leave people alone overall and let people exist happily.

They say there is safety in numbers but this clearly isn’t always the case. 6 women who bothered no one were harassed by a man who was sitting in the back of a taxi. As they walked by he got out of the taxi. These women who were trying to go to a party and have a good night were unable to do so without feeling threatened by a man who could not keep his comments to himself. There is no reason to make women feel unsafe. There are no excuses anymore. Let women dress how they want without feeling as though you have the right to comment on their bodies.

These children were 12 and 13 when this happened... they were walking by the library... they were wearing a big fluffy jacket... Who wants to make the argument that clothes matter? Who wants to try to say these children were asking for it? There are no more excuses being made for abusers, harassers, assaulters, etc. they are C R I M I N A L S. There is no other words for it.

A follow up question was sent “Do you think creepy staring is considered harassment?”
Without seeing anything my best answer would be: Don’t wait to find out. Don’t wait to see if they are looking at you, past you, or at you with bad intentions... just alert who you are with, get away from the situation, and get to safety. You never deserve to fee uncomfortable or unsafe in any situation, if you do, that is harassment and please get away.

14 years old on a school trip... mandatory school events cannot even be a safe place for a child anymore. This is a pathetic and gut wrenching statement. It’s sickening that anyone thought this was an adequate comment to make to anyone, especially a 14 year old girl.

At 14 a child is starting their freshman year in high school. Their year should be defined by new experiences, new friends, biology and algebra, family trips, and laughter. Not harassment, assault, or predatory behavior. Going after anyone is a disgusting concept but targeting someone who cannot even get behind the wheel of a car for 2 more years, someone who is not legal for 4 more years, someone who cannot drink for 7 more years, is going after and targeting a child.

We’ve said it before, we will say it again. Keep your hands, comments, and all predatory interactions away from people. Let people live their lives happily and stay away from children.

At 16 years old a child is underage, a minor, just learning to drive a car, starting/in their junior year of high school. At 16 a child does not need to learn what harassment, assault, physical, psychological, or verbal abuse is. They do not need to be terrified, followed, commented on, touched, etc. Keep your hands, eyes, and unwarranted and unwanted comments away from everyone. Whether they are a child, a woman, a man, non-binary, transgender, gender fluid, fat, thin, tall, short, black, Asian, Indian, intelligent, uneducated, rich, poor, I DON’T CARE. There is no identity factory that warrants harassment of that person. Whether a person is wearing a winter coat and snow pants or the shortest shorts and a bra or shorts and no shirt, there is no physical factor that warrants harassment of that person. STAY AWAY FROM PEOPLE WHO DO NOT WANT YOUR ATTENTION.

It’s horrifying that anywhere in this world we have to tell people to stay away from children especially. There is no excuse to assault, harm, or traumatize anyone, but to the innocence of a child, there is no comparison. There is absolutely no situation in which a person should even be remotely confused over the consent of another person if they are underage. A minor CANNOT under any circumstances, consent to sexual acts with someone over the age of 18. Targeting a 16-year-old and following her to the point of terror and fear is unacceptable in this country or any other. We are human beings with an obligation to each other to bring good into this world and remove the hate that is catcalling, harassment, assault, etc.
