Today is World Rabies Day!

Rabies is a serious disease—but thankfully, it is also preventable.

Keeping your pets up to date on their rabies vaccination is one of the most important things you can do to protect them, your family, and our community.

Rabies can affect mammals, including dogs, cats, wildlife, and people. Once clinical signs develop, rabies is almost always fatal. That’s why prevention and vaccination are so important.

If you’re not sure if your pet’s rabies vaccination is current, give us a call!

Pets are very good at hiding pain and often do not show obvious signs of oral pain until the disease is advanced.

Here are some common symptoms to watch for with dental disease: persistent bad breath, yellow or brown tartar buildup on teeth, drooling, dropping food, chewing on one side of the mouth only, pawing at the mouth, loose teeth or red and bleeding gums.

Feeding your pet human food can potentially lead to vomiting, diarrhea and even more severe conditions like pancreatitis. Many human foods are much higher in fat and sodium compared to pet foods. Additionally, some human foods are toxic to animals.
