For some trackers, the season is already rolling. For others, it’s just getting started.

Either way, it doesn’t take many tracks to get tired of fighting a tangled lead through the woods—or waiting for a soaked one to dry.

That’s exactly why we built the DryLine Tracking System: lightweight, low water absorption, and designed to move through the woods with less hassle.

We’ve loved hearing the feedback from handlers already putting theirs to work this season!

Built for the track.

We've been a little quiet on here lately, but Cora and I have been putting in some work! 🦌🐕

Friday night we tracked one buck, followed by two Saturday morning and another today. Four tracks, two bucks on the tailgate, and two determined to be nonlethal hits.

One of those recoveries came with a lesson learned!

Cora tracked a buck right up to the edge of a dog pen.
With the dogs nearby, I thought she was more interested in them than the track, so I called her off.

Moments later, the neighbors called to let us know the buck was lying dead in their front yard!

That one would've been a missed recovery if it weren't for the neighbors. Lesson learned: sometimes you need to trust your dog a little more than yourself! 😂

Proud of the work Cora has been putting in, and thankful for the hunters who have trusted us to help with their recoveries.

It’s finally here. Georgia deer season is officially underway! 🦌

To everyone climbing into a stand this morning, good luck and be safe.

Take your time, make the shot count, and enjoy every minute of being back in the woods. Hopefully the only call you have to make today is telling somebody to bring the truck!

But if things don’t go as planned, remember—when in doubt, back out. Cora and I will be ready when you need us.

Good luck this season, y’all. Let’s see those first-day trophies.

Let’s talk blood trails.

One thing years of hunting and tracking will teach you is that the goal isn’t to follow blood, the goal is to recover the deer.

A good blood trail can give us confidence and tempt us to keep moving, but sometimes the rest of the evidence is telling us something different.

Blood color, amount and consistency, shot angle, the deer’s reaction, distance traveled, and how the trail changes all help tell the story. No single clue tells us everything.

Sometimes the best tracking decision you can make is to stop, back out, and give that deer more time.

I know we have a lot of experienced hunters and trackers following this page, so I’m curious:

What’s something you’ve learned from following blood trails that you wish you’d known when you started hunting?

Let’s get some good information in the comments for the hunters who are still learning.

Turns out Cora hates briars just as much as I do! 😂

Can’t say I blame her.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

You’re bowhunting from a saddle about 25 feet up, overlooking a bottom on a 20-acre parcel.

You’re shooting an expandable broadhead with a 2½-inch cut.

A doe walks in at 10 yards, slightly quartering away. You take the shot.

She runs out of sight, and shortly afterward, you think you hear crashing.

You climb down and go to the shot site.

No blood. No arrow.

Two questions:

HUNTERS: What’s the first thing you do when you can’t find your arrow?

TRACKERS: What’s the first question you ask the hunter?

Don’t overthink it. Let’s hear your reasoning.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Your trophy buck steps out quartered toward you. You take the shot.

At the hit, the buck stumbles hard on his front legs before recovering and running off. You feel good about the shot placement.

At the hit site, you find dark blood, with some showing aeration. You begin following the trail and continue finding blood—but the buck has now traveled farther than you expected.

What do you do next?

Keep tracking? Back out? Call a tracking dog? Give it a certain amount of time?

More importantly—why?

Let’s hear your reasoning in the comments.

Deer season is right around the corner, and hopefully you never need to make this call—but if you do, save our number now.

Cora and I will be back at it this season helping hunters recover deer when things don’t go exactly as planned.

If you’re ever unsure about a shot, don’t be afraid to reach out. Sometimes the best decision you can make is simply knowing when to wait, when to look, and when to back out.

Save it. Share it with your hunting buddies. And hopefully we’ll only have to talk about the big one you recovered on your own!
