Talk about a HOT weekend to go show dogs! Sheesh, both my dog and I melted.
But overall a successful event.
(Not gonna lie, took a cold shower after we got home)

I've posted a screenshot of the ring times. It's alphabetical by breed.
Show begins at 8am and typically is over by 5pm. The breeds show then groups (which are the breed winners). There are a few vendors selling "usually" dog related items on the second floor. Outside food is usually frowned upon, but they only have one food vendor.
But Saint Joseph civic arena is at 4th and Felix, and there is more to eat around town.
Make it a day, and come play!😁

It's hot 🔥, but let's chat!
Double coated dogs require that top coat for protection from heat, cold, bugs and plants (burs, stickers, grass seed, etc). So it is Not recommended to shave, but to de-shed that under coat. Non double coated dogs also need some hair for much of the same reasons.
All dogs pant to relieve their bodies from heat, the moisture on the tongue helps cool them down. They can sweat out from their paws, and laying on a cool surface/ground helps too. Having cool water to drink, shade, or basically being in out of the heat is best.
Shaving down a dog only exposing their skin to the direct sun hurts them more then helping. *They are still hot, it's hot outside*
Just like people, we seek ac, shade, cool beverages, swimming, light color/ weight clothing etc.. We don't run around naked in the heat/sun as we know it just makes us hotter.
So, next time you think about doing what is best for your dog, ask questions about the breed, coat and lifestyle of the dog first.
(Now before you say anything)
Have I shaved dogs before, even double coated? Yes. But each case is different, each owner has been educated and sometimes the dog might be in desperate need from matted coat, skin issues and/or fleas so bad it was a mercy case.
But my thoughts are first educate, then act.
