We've been eating these at our house for weeks before we ever put them up for sale. 🔥

A few of y'all have already grabbed some, and Pratt’s Country Store started carrying them in their cooler too.

Pork brats, from our hogs.

~ Regular Bratwurst — 4 per pack, $11
~ Mild Italian Bratwurst — 4 per pack, $11
~ Polish Kielbasa — 4 per pack, $11
~ Maple Breakfast Links — 16 per pack, $11

The Italian ones are mild enough the kids will eat them. The maple links are made with real maple, fourteen to a pack, which is a weekend of breakfasts. Kielbasa holds up to about anything you put with it.

All of it raised on pasture. No antibiotics, no hormones, USDA processed.

Third Saturday in October. Y'all know what that means. Tennessee vs Alabama

Deliveries ran early this morning, pickup orders went out, cattle got checked, and big birds moved to fresh ground.

The chicks got looked in on too. Two weeks old today, and they'll be ready the week of Thanksgiving.

All of it done early today!

Every few weeks we load birds for the processor. 🐓

That truck runs on diesel. So does the tractor that carries hay to the cattle, the one that cuts the hay, and every delivery route into Knoxville.

Here's the part most folks don't know: the fuel we buy for the tractors is dyed red. Same diesel, just untaxed, because it's meant for equipment that never touches a public road. Running it in a road vehicle is against the law, and they do check.

The state paused that rule through the end of this month. So for a few more weeks, the red fuel can go in the trucks too. About fifty cents a gallon.

WVLT came out to the farm yesterday and asked what that does to an operation our size. They walked the pastures and got the birds and the cattle on camera. Clip's in the comments if you want to see the place.

Short version: it helps. It doesn't fix anything. And it's gone October 31.

None of this shows up as a line on a package of chicken. All of it's in there.

Everybody's feeling this one, not just farmers. Y'all are paying it at the pump same as we are.

He picked out which ones to hold. Went with the maple patties and the brats, which tells you about everything you need to know about a two-year-old.

We've been working on these a while. Same chickens we raise out on pasture, just in a form that makes a weeknight easier.

~ Chicken Patty Sliders — 8 per pack, $13
~ Maple Chicken Patties — 8 per pack, $13
~ Mild Sausage Chicken Patties — 8 per pack, $13
~ Chicken Bratwurst — 4 per pack, $11

The maple ones are made with real maple, not flavoring. The mild sausage patties go on a biscuit and don't last long around here. Brats go on the grill same as pork.

Everything that happened here this week. 🌾

Monday started at 3 a.m., loading birds for the processor.

Then temporary fence up to section off the next paddock, so the cattle move onto fresh grass. Mineral hauled out to the herd. Water carried out to the chickens, twice a day, every day.

The little man was in on most of it.

None of this shows up on a package at the store. You ought to know what went into what you're feeding your family.

Pulled out every package, told me what each one was, and put them in the box himself. Took about four times longer than it should have.

That's the Monthly Chicken Box. 8 lbs, $49, same thing every month:

~ Thighs
~ Legs
~ Wings
~ Ground Chicken

The cuts we actually cook with at our house. Thighs on the grill, legs in the oven, wings for a ballgame, ground chicken anywhere you'd use ground beef. No guessing what to order, no running out halfway through the month.
