One product that I absolutely swear by is this one right here and i just got early dibs on these amazing seasonal fragrances. I have a hunch that my soon to be favorite is going to be Lakeside Pine 🌲 Mountain girl šŸ’Æ

Because in this house we start prepping for Halloween early ā™„ļø Any guesses on what this boy will be this year?

Today was the outline haircut & rough-in.

In 3 weeks we will outline groom again & do base colors.

3 weeks after that, we will add in the final details just before Halloween festivities.

The dog that made me decide my next large breed is a Giant Schnauzer. Grooming Simba has given me a love for the breed and HIM beyond belief. He was a rehab dog at first and truly he was just a scared puppy that needed reassurance he was ok. He can communicate and I will listen. This boy is full of hugs & snuggles for his entire groom.

Please, if you have a dog that struggles in the salon, seek help from a behavioral groomer. It makes a huge difference to them & their sense of safety.

🤣 This meme is every dog trainer trying desperately not to turn a simple question into an entire behavior lesson.

Client: ā€œHow do I get my dog to stop barking at everything?ā€

Me: ā€œOkay, but why are they barking?ā€

Client: ā€œBecause they’re annoying?ā€ šŸ˜‚

And there I go…

Is it excitement? Fear? Frustration? Alert barking? Attention seeking? Have they accidentally been rewarded for it? What happens right before they bark? What happens immediately after?

Meanwhile, you just wanted me to tell you how to make them BE QUIET. 🤣

I promise I’m not trying to overcomplicate it.

The problem is… barking is communication. If we don’t figure out what your dog is trying to accomplish with it, we’re just trying to silence the symptom instead of changing the behavior behind it.

So yes, unfortunately there will be a tiny behavioral science lesson.

But I’ll try to keep the whiteboard diagrams to a minimum. šŸ˜‚šŸ¾

I’m usually pretty relaxed when it comes to this, but effective immediately, all grooming services must be paid at pickup by owner, drop-off via transportation OR within 48 hours of an invoice being sent.

Any outstanding balance must be paid in full before another appointment can be booked.

Failure to do this & you already have future appointments pre-booked AND your balance remains unpaid after 48 hours, those appointments will be placed on hold and the time slots will be made available to the next paying client.

I truly appreciate everyone who pays promptly and respects the time, care, and work that goes into providing services for your dogs. ā¤ļø

These are the days I LIVE for. 🄹

Call me crazy all you want, but THIS. This is rewarding beyond measure.

Today I intentionally stacked my schedule with what I call my Rehabilitation Dogs—dogs who, before finding me, had reached a point where sedation was considered necessary just to get through a grooming appointment.

And today? We had some BIG wins.

🐾 Dog #1:
HER FIRST FULL GROOM. 🤯

And when I say full groom, I mean everything—full body, legs, sanitary, nails, ears, paw pads, armpits, beard, belly AND tail.

And here’s the part I’m REALLY proud of:

NO muzzle & NO cone.

She was PHENOMENAL.

What makes me even prouder isn’t just that we finished the groom. It’s how she communicates now.

Her old response when she became uncomfortable was snapping or trying to bite.

Now? She stops and asks for reassurance.

Basically: ā€œHold on. I need a second… and maybe a snuggle.ā€ šŸ˜‚

So we snuggle. She gets the reassurance she needs, and when she’s ready, we keep going.

THAT is rehabilitation.

🐾 Dog #2:
This dog has come LEAPS AND BOUNDS from their first appointment.

In the beginning, grooming tools touching them at all was a huge ask. Their bum? Absolutely not happening —don’t even think about touching it.

Today we completed almost an entire groom—including the bum, tail AND sanitary.

For another dog, that might sound like nothing.

For THIS dog? It is HUGE.

🐾 Dog #3:
Today was their VERY FIRST GROOM WITHOUT MEDICATION.

And they did GREAT.

What we learned today is that this dog doesn’t need medication to make grooming possible—they need time, patience, accommodation and someone willing to listen to them.

Their back was done with clippers, and everything else was carefully hand-scissored because that’s what worked best for them.

Three completely different dogs.

Three different histories.

Three different comfort levels.

Three different places in their grooming recovery.

And THAT is why individualized care matters so much.

There isn’t one magical technique or timeline. My job is to figure out what each dog is communicating, meet them where they are, build a plan around that individual dog, and keep moving forward at a pace they can actually handle.

Sometimes success is a full groom.

Sometimes success is finally trimming a bum.

Sometimes success is discovering they can accomplish the groom differently than they ever have before.

Progress is progress.

This is the work I do.

And THIS is what fills my cup. ā¤ļøšŸ¾
