today our sweet collie girl finally got adopted! she will be living out her life on some land in iowa with her new dad. i truly believe this was the perfect match for her, and was well worth the wait.

thank you Ashlyn Lipford / Night and Day Dog Training for fostering her!

update: all adopted!

meet the dance litter! 💃

these four firecrackers are 7 week old purebred border collies that were dumped at a vet clinic to be euthanized due to vision issues of varying severity. thanks to the amazing vet staff that reached out, that never happened. they’re currently thriving in foster homes. as soon as health testing and vetting is complete, they will be ready to move onto their forever! although they all suffer from issues related to vision loss, these guys are SPICY. their temperament so far is more suitable for working or sport homes, or owners with high drive dog experience. they are from working cattle stock, and it shows.

to get to the bottom of their vision issues, they are booked to see a specialist february 9th (disco has already gone, but those are details for a separate post.) each exam will cost $75, on top of whatever diagnostic testing the veterinary ophthalmologist deems necessary. this doesn’t even cover the multitude of vaccines they will need as they grow older (4 DHPP, which means 4 separate vet visits with exam fees) and getting fixed. that being said, donations towards our little blind babies are very much appreciated.

donations can be made on venmo or paypal to: carolineberger670 (for some reason our “business” venmo is down)

if you believe you may be a good fit for one of the dancers, please send me a message!

(please note that disco is diagnosed to be 80-90% blind and will require a very special home experienced with the breed, drivey dogs, and special needs cases.)

tldr ; WE NEED FOSTERS!!

i love reaching animals. i really do. it’s my absolute favorite past time. every waking moment i spend not working is dedicated to this rescue. but unfortunately, i live in an apartment. and i’m allergic to cats. so please, please help me by opening your home to a foster. temporary placement with all supplies and vet bills pad for. i always need fosters. for cats, for dogs, for puppies, for kittens. if you are able, please, please reach out. it would save a life. thank you ❤

sincerely, a very very tired rescuer who’s trying her best

The happiest update: Angel is ADOPTED!!

Back in October, I saw a post about a stray dog who had been hit by a car and was living in bushes behind a Starbucks. She had been there for over a month. I immediately went to try to catch her. After several days of crawling through bushes, tossing rotisserie chicken, and slowly earning her trust, I finally got her. Despite being in obvious pain, she was the sweetest girl. She never growled, snapped, or showed her teeth. I had her scanned for a microchip, and surprisingly, she was chipped! Unfortunately, her original owner didn’t want her and had given her away months earlier. When I contacted the new owner, he didn’t want her either. So I took her in. Thanks to the amazing Dr. Carr at Pelham Animal Clinic, we learned she had a shattered pelvis and a broken hip. She was started on pain medication, and we began raising funds for her much-needed surgery. Thanks to the incredible generosity of the community, we raised enough to cover her $1,300 surgery. Dr. McKim at Mercy Animal Hospital performed the operation, repairing her hip and relieving pain she had likely been living with for far too long. A wonderful woman fostered her during her recovery, and later she went into a foster-to-adopt home that ultimately didn’t work out. But in January, she finally found where she truly belonged. Her adopter, Denise, had actually been studying at that same Starbucks back in September and had seen Angel hiding in the bushes. She spent weeks trying to catch her. After I secured Angel, Denise and her mom stayed in touch—checking on her progress, coming to visit, and working on convincing her dad to allow another dog. When the first adoption fell through, they knew it was meant to be.

Angel—now Stella—was adopted by one of the very first people who tried to save her. She’s bonded to Denise, sleeps in her bed, and follows her everywhere. She’s happy, healthy, and safe.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated to her care. Because of you, she’s exactly where she belongs. Safe, happy, healthy, and with her forever family.
