During one of my drop off donations trip, I came across a woman who was actually returning trapping equipment.

Conversation:

Me: “Hi! How did you do? Were you successful?”

Her: “Yes, I trapped the cat, but couldn’t handle the idea of it being in the trap overnight. I trapped it just after midnight and decided to release it.”

It was at this point my heart started racing and my breathing changed. As I bit my tongue . . .

Me: “Oh? Did you notice it had an eartip?”

Her: “No, I didn’t see one.”

My fists were starting to clinch as I slowly turned away towards my car.

Her seeing I was irritated: “Well, I didn’t think it would be okay sitting in a kennel outside with the cold weather.”

(It was a low of 40°!)

Me: “You could put it in your bathroom.”

Her: “I don’t want that thing in my home!”

While smiling (or was I gritting my teeth), I explained to her where to go (nicely) and where the equipment should be left.

I left, filled with anxiety. I realized I just can’t do it any more. It’s just so hard to be nice.

But seriously, I’m sure I can do it. Although I don’t really want to surround myself with these kind of people once I’m able to be active again.

I’d be very happy to get a gig where I could just trap and never talk to a single person, just hand out business cards if they have questions.

Kapy was born outside to a feral mom.

Just as he was old enough to be able to be weaned and come in to rescue for socialization, the colony feeder realized that there was something very wrong with him.

She was able to catch him and bring him to our vet for immediate care. He had a diaphragmatic hernia, most likely a birth defect. Kapy receive the best care that he could and unfortunately his tiny body was not able to continue in that condition.

Kapy was humanely euthanized and is no longer suffering. The vet bill for his emergency care, euthanasia and cremation was $224. Please help if you can. We appreciate your support and cannot continue to help with emergent care without your support.

Please please please spay and neuter your cat, the neighbor's cat, the neighborhood cat, the stray cat any cat that you see. To prevent this from happening to any other kitten.

Adding a second video of Kapy in the comments.

We need to raise $800 for her to have her teeth done this month. Please help if you can! And yes, she is still available for adoption.

Butterflies need safe little drinking spots too 🦋 A few tips if you make one:
🪨 Add rocks so butterflies have dry landing places.
💧 Keep the water shallow, not deep.
☀️ Place it somewhere warm and sunny.
🌿 Refresh it often so it doesn’t get gross.
🍊 If you add fruit, use just a little because it can attract wasps too.
It’s a simple project, but it makes the garden feel so much more alive.
