We are not okay. Rescues are not okay.

🌟Behind every cute photo and funny video is a life we're fighting to save. Every day filled with medications, low blood sugars, vet appointments, sleepless nights, and doing everything we can to give these babies the best quality of life possible. We celebrate every good day, knowing that for many, their days will be cut short. We also have the heartbreaking responsibility of knowing when it the time to fight is over.

🌟Behind every adorable face are thousands of dollars in veterinary bills, medications, specialized diets, and daily care. We don't do it because it's easy—we do it because these babies deserve a chance, and often there is nowhere else for them to go.

🌟And behind every post you see online is so much that you don't. The emotional weight. The difficult conversations. The criticism. The endless messages, emails, and decisions that come with rescue work. Everyone has an opinion, and sometimes it feels like no matter how hard you try, it will never be enough.

The truth is, rescue is exhausting. It's beautiful, rewarding, heartbreaking, and overwhelming—all at the same time.

So today, if there's a rescue you loveā¤ļø, send them a kind message. Share one of their posts. Make a small donation if you're able. Leave an encouraging comment. Those simple acts of kindness mean more than you know, especially on the days when we're running on empty.

Please be kind to your rescues. Our photos may be light, fun and cute, but many of us are carrying far more than anyone realizes. ā¤ļø

My apologies for being so quiet lately. Life has been busy, and social media has taken a back seat.

Many of you may remember Peaches. Last August, she underwent surgery to have her spleen removed. In between then and now, she was also diagnosed with adrenal disease after she started losing weight and her fur. Thankfully, after receiving her adrenal implant, she made an incredible comeback. Her hair grew back, she gained her weight back, and she was doing so well.

Unfortunately, we recently found another mass that grew very quickly. Yesterday, Peaches underwent her second surgery to have it removed. The mass didn’t look very promising, so it has been sent off for biopsy. Now we’re just waiting and hoping for the best.

She’s home recovering and has been such a little trooper through everything she’s been through. ā¤ļø

If you’d like to help with Peaches’ medical expenses, donations can be made directly to:

Saucier Veterinary Hospital
šŸ“ž (228) 831-4660
Under: Leroy Dunn (Little Beasties Rescue)

Every donation goes directly toward helping rescue ferrets like Peaches receive the care they need. Thank you all for your continued support, patience, and for keeping her in your thoughts while we wait for her biopsy results. 🩷

🐾 Happy Adoption Update! 🐾

It’s always bittersweet when our ferrets leave for their forever homes, but this is exactly why we do what we do. ā¤ļø

✨ Cookie and Blitz have gone home together and are starting their next adventure with their new family.

✨ Mochi now has a new brother to play, cuddle, and cause mischief with.

✨ Maple and Mocha have joined a wonderful home where they now have two new ferret siblings waiting to welcome them.

Seeing these babies find loving homes is one of the most rewarding parts of rescue. Thank you to all of the adopters who chose to open their hearts and homes to these deserving ferrets.

🐾 Looking to adopt? Our currently available adoptable ferrets are pinned at the top of our page and are still looking for their forever homes.

🐾 We also have two unbonded males that have not been posted yet, so if you’re interested in adopting, feel free to reach out for more information.

Congratulations, Cookie, Blitz, Mochi, Maple, and Mocha! We wish you all a lifetime of love, happiness, and ferret shenanigans. ā¤ļø

In February, I commissioned Michellestrinkets to make a ferret keychain for me using a picture of my sweet baby Toaster as the reference. While it was being made, Toaster unexpectedly passed away. Before I even had the chance to tell Michelle what happened, she had already added little wings to him. šŸ¤

I just got the keychain today, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. It’s absolutely beautiful, and now I get to keep my sweet boy with me every day. Thank you so much for creating something so special for me. šŸ«¶šŸ¼

Hey everyone, thank you so much for your patience. I will be getting back to messages, adoption applications, and replies tomorrow.

I’ve been sick for over a week now, and it’s honestly just been a really rough few weeks all around. My husband has had to step in and help take care of the ferrets while I’ve been sick because illnesses can be passed to them, and the last thing we need right now is 30 sick ferrets too.

I also picked up Toaster’s paw print today from where he was cremated, and it hit me harder than I expected. I miss him so much already. It still doesn’t feel real, and walking past his area without him there has been incredibly hard.

Thank you all again for the kindness, patience, and support while we work through everything. ā¤ļø

Tuesday morning I woke Toaster up to express his bladder like normal. When I picked him up, I felt a lump on his side that wasn’t there the night before. I set him down and watched him closely, and he was very lethargic. I immediately grabbed him and rushed to the vet.

On the way there, he started turning gray in the face. At the vet, they were able to stabilize him and gave him injections to help remove the fluid and keep him stable. After imaging, they found a large amount of fluid near his heart, and his spleen was enlarged and pressing on his diaphragm. He stayed at the vet all day Tuesday so they could monitor him, with the plan for me to continue his care through the night and bring him back for surgery the following day to remove his spleen.

After spending thousands trying to give him every chance, I brought him home with medications… but he didn’t make it through the night.

This is one of the hardest losses I’ve ever dealt with, especially after Nugget just passed. It honestly doesn’t feel real. I can’t even go into the living room where his pen is without completely breaking down.

Toaster was my baby. He came to us as a surrender at the end of last year, and I wish more than anything I had more time with him.

I’ll miss him trying to pull the socks off my feet. I’ll miss getting peed on while expressing his bladder. I’ll miss his little scoot and our routine of giving him toys just for him to stash under the couch. I put so much time, love, and money into making sure he had a happy life… and he did.

My family and I have been hit really hard by this loss. I’m going to take about a week to process and step back. I’ll be back next week to go through applications and resume posting.

Please give your babies a little extra love tonight for Toaster šŸ¤

Today we unexpectedly lost Nugget šŸ’”

When Nugget first came to us, he was so underweight (first picture). Over time, he gained weight, strength, and so much love. He truly blossomed here, and getting to watch that was something special.

This morning, I found him peacefully passed in his sleep, cuddled up with the others. It was completely unexpected and honestly really shocking, because he had been doing so well and seemed to be in great health.

Nugget was deeply bonded to Opposume. I gave them time together this morning so Opposume could say goodbye in his own way. Opposume is being surrounded with extra support from the other ferrets and will be staying with us as a sanctuary baby where he can continue to feel safe and loved.

Nugget was so loved, and he knew it. That’s what matters most.

Please give your ferret babies some extra love tonight šŸ¤
