We are not okay. Rescues are not okay.
šBehind every cute photo and funny video is a life we're fighting to save. Every day filled with medications, low blood sugars, vet appointments, sleepless nights, and doing everything we can to give these babies the best quality of life possible. We celebrate every good day, knowing that for many, their days will be cut short. We also have the heartbreaking responsibility of knowing when it the time to fight is over.
šBehind every adorable face are thousands of dollars in veterinary bills, medications, specialized diets, and daily care. We don't do it because it's easyāwe do it because these babies deserve a chance, and often there is nowhere else for them to go.
šAnd behind every post you see online is so much that you don't. The emotional weight. The difficult conversations. The criticism. The endless messages, emails, and decisions that come with rescue work. Everyone has an opinion, and sometimes it feels like no matter how hard you try, it will never be enough.
The truth is, rescue is exhausting. It's beautiful, rewarding, heartbreaking, and overwhelmingāall at the same time.
So today, if there's a rescue you loveā¤ļø, send them a kind message. Share one of their posts. Make a small donation if you're able. Leave an encouraging comment. Those simple acts of kindness mean more than you know, especially on the days when we're running on empty.
Please be kind to your rescues. Our photos may be light, fun and cute, but many of us are carrying far more than anyone realizes. ā¤ļø
