PSA: What happens when I reach out to FA to carry a cat-
Once a destination is established we reach out to rescues in the area to see if one can take a cat.
IF multiple cats are ready to fly we verify which one is a good for that rescue. Based on age, what they currently have available for adoption, temperament Etc.
We verify if a transporter to able to pick up cat upon landing of FA. IF not we work with rescue to find one.
Airline is contacted - sometimes hours to verify and add cat to passengers flight.
All document information is obtained to have health cert and exportation documents completed for cat to fly. This is the point 100usd is charged for paperwork.
Communication with FA to give them transporters information so they are in contact for day of travel for handoff.
MANY Messages are exchanged to cover all details and answer questions.
Our volunteer is secured to do the airport run, many times involves pick up of cats from other fosters.
Trip to VET to get paperwork- review for accuracy.
Day of travel : getting all supplies put together for cats to help cover all needs for kitty to travel comfortably. Cats transported to airport, transfer into travel carrier. Obtain paperwork and FA passport to get Govt stamp, es**rt FA to airline to check in, all travel instructions are gone over.
I track flights to know when they land, verify in AM the cats have been handed off.
Then weekly check ins on cats with rescues until adopted.
This is a very planned and specific process. Takes many people, many hours, a-lot of money, and we are all volunteers that do this to SAVE THE CATS OF ROATAN. 🇭🇳✈️🇺🇸😻
