For those of you not familiar, diamond doves are to doves what Serama are to chickens. They are pint sized versions of the full sized birds. Diamond doves are about the size of a finch with longer tails. They are very cute! Used to the living room at Native Colors, so accustomed to the sound of the television and people. Also used to dogs and cats and other bird/ parrot species BUT our living room is fairy serene these days. A quiet, well lit (during the day) area is preferred to loud noisy areas. Placing these birds in a playroom or a living room where kids are active and loud is not suitable. That would stress the tiny treasures out. So if you have small kiddos in the house, and you don't have a quiet place to keep their habitat, these birds aren't a good idea for you. However, for the right bird loving tween OR teen, with supervision, to be sure needs are met, they could make the perfect starter birds since they prefer not to be taken out and handled. I (Noelle) do not have any problem with them startling when I put my hand in the cage because they are used to me, but if someone new tries, it does frighten them. So it would take a bit for them to settle in. They do not bite but are fully flighted. Serious inquiries only please. I'm not in any hurry to let them go to a new human. Just something I am considering to the right person. Is that you? If you think it is- don't wait, contact us today so we can determine together if you're a good match!
The birds are bonded so I'd ask whoever may end up a good potential home to promise not to separate them.
