It wouldn't be the month of August without some monitor lizard trouble! Meet our newest sanctuary resident, a Mangrove Monitor Lizard.

Thank you to the Burlington Animal Control and officer Jeffrey for a safe, smooth, and amazing capture of this scaly friend. Because of her quick thinking, and reptile training she acquired through our law enforcement training program, she swiftly reacted to give this scaly friends a fighting chance. We cant speak enough on how difficult a monitor like this can be to capture in a wild environment. Well done!

Mangrove monitors are illegal to possess in the state of MA without proper permitting. Please do your research and due diligence before purchasing a pet!

If not captured, this creature would not survive the New England cold weather.

Are Hognose snakes venomous or poisonous? Well, if you talk to a herpetologist, many will immediately correct you if you were to call a rattlesnake poisonous, "they're venomous!" If you're talking about a hog nose, though this is one of the unique ones that would be considered both. Let Mack explain!

Are you hurting your snake unintentionally? We had some questions from our previous video so figured we would clarify!
