Ruby, a 16-year-old from North East England, has passed away after courageously fighting a rare brain tumor that returned seven times throughout her life.
Diagnosed with ependymoma at just 21 months old, Ruby underwent chemotherapy, multiple brain surgeries, radiotherapy, and even traveled to America for proton beam therapy. Despite her incredible strength, the tumor continued to progress.
Ruby sadly died on Wednesday. Her sister Emily shared that the family is heartbroken, but Ruby’s legacy of bravery and love will live on forever.
Over the years, her community supported her through fundraising and care. Her courage earned her the “Child of Courage” award in 2013, and she was also featured in local portraits.
A JustGiving page has been set up in Ruby’s memory to support the hospital wards that cared for her.
