The cons and pros of fish keeping.
CONS:
On July 5th I set up a 75 gallon tank.
Saturday the 29th we stepped out to get some dinner and came home to see that the seal failed and 80% of the water had escaped from the tank.
PROS:
All the water went right down the drain that was directly under that tank.
Because my fish room is set up to minimize any aquarium failure damage.
The 5 P’s definitely saved me on this one.
Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance.
Prepare for the worst, don’t just hope for the best.

🍍 The Underrated Gem of the Livebearer World: The Pineapple Swordtail 🐠

Let’s talk about a classic that gets passed over way too often in local fish stores: the Pineapple Swordtail (Xiphophorus hellerii).
When people think of swordtails, their minds usually jump straight to the solid red, koi, or neon varieties. But the Pineapple strain has one of the coolest selective breeding backstories in the hobby!

Once a Pineapple Swordtail settles into an established setup—especially against lush green plants and dark substrate—those colors pop like crazy. They’re active, incredibly hardy, super easy to breed, and bring fantastic motion and warmth to any community tank.

Family Tree Aquatics is incredibly proud to announce our newest client :
The Berwyn Public Library! 📚✨
We’ve officially taken over the care, and maintenance of the aquatic display located in the Children’s Area of the library.
This tank was specifically designed and tailored to spark curiosity, and give our youngest community members a colorful, up-close look at a thriving underwater world.
Next time you and the kids are picking out some new reads, checking out a library program, or enjoying family time, make sure to stop by the Children's Area to check out our work! 🌿🐠
A huge thank you to the staff at the Berwyn Public Library for trusting us to keep this special space beautiful and educational. We can't wait to keep this tank thriving for our community's little explorers.
