RIP Rubio 4-11-2016 to 5-25-2026
Our years at Cedar Point are adding up (12), so it's inevitable that we have to retire park animals mostly due to age. Curtis is the only original CP resident now at 13. It is especially hard when it's a park (and Mary) favorite. Last season, we let people know that we would be retiring Rubio, one of our big nubians at the end of the season. He was born in 2016, so I named him and his siblings after the presidential candidates. He was the last of them. He wintered well, but last week, he started breathing hard. We hoped in was pneumonia (very treatable), but x-rays found lung cancer. We had scheduled the vet to come, but he left on his own terms. Yesterday, while spending his last day out with his goat friends, he suddenly collapsed and passed away in his caretaker Zac's arms.

Surprise! Funland Farm is officially OPEN at Michigan's Adventure!

We kept this quiet because it came together at the last minute, but we are psyched to be back for the first time since 2023. The setup here is fantastic. We brought back some veteran animals into the rotation and added some brand new babies to the walk-in pen. The zoo crew is all about the attention they're getting!

This park opening finally marks the end of a very busy spring launch season. Huge thanks to the crew who helped us pull this off: Ryan, manager Mary (who is still onsite training the new staff), and former Animal Care Director Denise for keeping a local eye on the herd. And a huge welcome to the newest members of the HHF family, Talia, Emma, Amanda and Chloe.

Feast your eyes on these pics that really showcase what a lovely little park this is, and let us know in the comments if we will be seeing you in Michigan this summer.

It's a mini 'Moo-union at Blooms this rainy morning. Maybelle has rejoined her mate Wrangler and their son Oliver after being held at the farm for treatment for a tick bite. These tick borne illnesses have increased substantially the past few years, creating havoc for our animals, caretakers, and vets.

Happy 1st birthday Yuri!! With the chaos of opening weekend at Cedar Point, we don't want to neglect another place where some of our animals reside until Halloween. Just like Churro's surprise birth at Cedar Point, llama Victoria gave birth to a half llama half alpaca last May at Blooms. They named him Yuri. Like CP Churro, Blooms celebrated Yuri's birthday with a party and strawberry/carrot cake over the weekend.

We said a bittersweet goodbye to the second/final group of animals leaving for yesterday.

We will miss them, but we value the extra time and space to focus on our other animals, and we know they receive top notch care and all the attention they deserve when they're at the park.

Bon voyage, little friends! Have a great summer!

We’ve been pretty quiet for a couple of months, but we’re back! March and April on the farm can only be described as INTENSE (we’ll dive into exactly why in a later post).

Right now, summer deployments are officially underway!

Last week, 40 of our animals departed for Blooms And Berries Farm Market. They’re living it up in fantastic accommodations and are looked after by an even more fantastic staff.

Yesterday, we waved goodbye to the first of our two Cedar Point crews—a trip we call “the bigs and the birds.” Tonight, the “smalls” are tucked into the barn, resting up before they roll out in the morning.

The planning and logistics for the Cedar Point move alone would blow your mind! We are incredibly fortunate to have an absolute dream team handling it. From our farm's animal care crew, to our delivery driver Ryan, to the park staff waiting to receive them, everyone involved brings serious passion and years of experience to the table.

Stay tuned for more updates! We've got plenty more to say and may actually have the time to say it!

In a few days, the animals leave for their 12th year at Cedar Point opening May 9th. Churro wants you to know that 2 new friends will be joining him, Chorizo, and Babette in the Barnyard for 2026. While Gianna llama has been there before, this year, she is bringing her llapaca (half alpaca half llama) daughter 'Misti' born last summer at the farm.

No matter how hard I try, Dante still plays with his food. When will they grow up!?
