A new group of therapy animal teams is getting ready to make a difference!

We’re celebrating some of the dedicated handlers and animals who recently completed their Pet Partners team evaluation. For new teams, this is an exciting step toward registration. For renewing teams, it’s a meaningful recommitment to the important visits they provide their communities.

Each team represents preparation, trust, and a special connection between handler and animal. We can’t wait to see the comfort, joy, and encouragement they’ll share in the months ahead.

Did you know that when you join Pet Partners as a therapy animal team with your pet, you get extra resources focused on helping new readers . . . at no extra cost?

Read With Me™ is a Pet Partners initiative that supports literacy by giving readers the opportunity to practice reading aloud to a therapy animal. During these visits, the animal offers a calm, comforting presence while the handler helps create a welcoming space where readers can build confidence at their own pace.

For children, this can make reading feel less intimidating and more fun. For teens and adults, it can support practice, confidence, and positive engagement with reading. The focus is simple: helping people feel more comfortable reading aloud in a relaxed, encouraging environment.

Registered Pet Partners teams receive free Read With Me™ support materials, including literacy visit best practices, suggested book lists, and tips for engaging readers.

“Therapy work isn't just about the animal: it's about what happens when people connect through them.”

Meet Sharina, and Macaron, a Pet Partners therapy animal rabbit, who show how powerful connection can be.

During a high school visit, a teen with special needs was so happy to meet Macaron that he called a friend over to share the moment.

That small act says so much. Therapy animal visits can help people feel seen, included, and connected. With Pet Partners, teams are prepared through education, evaluation, and safety standards so visits can be meaningful for everyone involved.

Macaron is one of the nine species that can join the Pet Partners Therapy Animal Program. Each animal brings something special to the people they meet.

A cockatoo on a podcast? Boo has a story worth hearing.

On the “Oh Behave” podcast, Amy and Boo, the 2026 Pet Partners Pet of the Year team, shared a powerful reminder: great therapy animal visits start with trust, preparation, and a strong bond.

Boo is Pet Partners’ first therapy bird to win Pet of the Year. His story shows why Pet Partners welcomes nine species and why every team is evaluated together. The animal’s comfort matters. The handler’s support matters. Safety matters.

Pet Partners teams are prepared to create visits that are meaningful, safe, and kind for everyone involved.

Listen to Amy and Boo’s story and learn what makes the Pet Partners approach so special.

What surprised you most about Boo’s story?

Evaluation = passed! ✅

Great job to these teams who just passed their Pet Partners evaluations, and are well on their way to completing their registrations.

Once they do, they’ll be ready to share the power of the human-animal bond and bring comfort, joy, and healing to those in need.

Meet Moira S., Senior Evaluator and Instructor Support Specialist at Pet Partners.

Moira helps support the volunteer leaders who guide therapy animal teams through their journey. From event calendar updates and troubleshooting to policy questions, incident support, and accommodations, Moira helps keep our program safe, clear, and connected.

As a former therapy cat handler, Moira also loves seeing Pet Partners celebrate the many species in our program. Dogs are wonderful, but the human-animal bond can come in many forms.

Thanks to staff like Moira, our volunteers have the support they need to bring safe, meaningful visits to their communities.

Have you met a therapy animal who was not a dog? We’d love to hear about it.

A first visit can mean so much.

During a recent visit to a senior living and retirement community, this sweet therapy dog Evah, and handler Doreen, were warmly welcomed, especially by residents who miss having a pet in their daily lives.

These moments show how therapy animal visits can bring comfort, joy, and connection through the human-animal bond. Pet Partners teams are trained and evaluated to help make visits safe, meaningful, and positive for both people and pets.
