This includes native Michigan Wildlife as well as exotics. I have been in animal rescue and rehabilitation for decades with a passion for neonatal, motherless kittens. A neonatal kitten is the kitten at its tiniest, newborn to 4 weeks old. Every spring and summer, thousands of motherless kittens are at the risk of death on the streets and in shelters. Let me be their voice and give them a fighting chance!

🐾 A VERY IMPORTANT REMINDER ABOUT OUR ADOPTION POLICIES 🐾

At Misty's Itty-Bitty Kitties, every single baby that comes through our doors receives an incredible amount of love, time, dedication, and care. From sleepless nights and round-the-clock feedings to veterinary care, cleaning, worrying, and fighting for the lives of these tiny, fragile babies, we put our blood, sweat, tears, and hearts into every kitten we save. These babies are not just kittens to us, they are lives we have fought hard to protect, and we take finding them the right homes very seriously. ❤️

With that being said, there are a few things every potential adopter needs to understand.

📌 1. Adoption applications MUST be completed in FULL!

When we send out an adoption application, we expect it to be completed thoroughly and honestly. Unfortunately, the majority of applications we receive are missing information or are only partially completed. An incomplete application may result in automatic disqualification.
Our application is not complicated, and taking the time to complete it properly is the first step in showing us that you are serious about adopting one of our babies. If you cannot take a few minutes to complete an application, how can we feel confident that you are prepared to take on the responsibility of caring for a kitten who may require extra attention, patience, and dedication?
We are not asking for anything unreasonable. We are asking for the same level of commitment that we give these babies every single day.

📌 2. Interest in a kitten does NOT guarantee adoption!

Submitting an application or expressing interest in one of our kittens does not automatically make that kitten yours. Every application will be thoroughly reviewed, and we reserve the right to select the applicant we feel is the best fit for each individual kitten.

📌 3. Communication is essential!

If we email you regarding your application or your interest in a kitten, please respond in a timely manner. We cannot and will not chase people down repeatedly to determine whether they are still interested.
If we send multiple emails and receive no response, we will move forward with the next eligible applicant. Once we have done so, you cannot simply assume that the kitten is still being held for you or that you are still in line to adopt.
Our rescue will not put a kitten’s future on hold indefinitely while waiting for someone to respond. These babies deserve families who are responsive, reliable, and genuinely ready to welcome them home.

📌 4. Please respect our time and the adoption process!

We understand that life gets busy, and we understand that things happen. However, communication and follow-through matter. We spend countless hours caring for these babies, often sacrificing sleep and personal time to give them the best possible chance at life. We ask that potential adopters respect the time and effort we put into this process.
Our policies are in place to protect our kittens and ensure they go to safe, loving, committed homes. They are not meant to inconvenience anyone, and they are not up for debate.

🐱 At the end of the day, our responsibility is to the kittens—not to meet the expectations of people who are unwilling to follow the process.
We will always do what we believe is best for the babies in our care. If you are genuinely interested in adopting, please complete your application in full, communicate with us, and respect the process.
These little lives depend on us to make the right decisions for them. We will never apologize for taking that responsibility seriously. ❤️🐾

Thank you to the applicants who are patient, respectful, communicative, and understand just how much goes into rescuing and raising these precious babies. You are appreciated more than you know! 🐾💕

Thank you!
Misty & Brandi

🐾❤️ A LITTLE RESCUE UPDATE & AN IMPORTANT REMINDER! ❤️🐾
First, we have some happy news to share… SYLVESTER HAS BEEN ADOPTED! 🏡🐱❤️ We are so happy that he has found his forever home and wish him a lifetime of love, happiness, and spoiled-kitty moments!
With that exciting news, Misty and I also want to share something important with everyone who finds a kitten in need and reaches out to us for help. ❤️
🐱 DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU CAN APPLY TO ADOPT THE KITTENS YOU BRING TO RESCUE? 🐱
Absolutely! If you find a kitten in need and bring them to us for rescue, you are more than welcome to apply to adopt that kitten yourself! In fact, finders will receive priority consideration over other adoption applicants, provided their adoption application is approved and they agree to and sign our adoption contract.
We love that people care enough to stop, help, and get these little ones somewhere safe. And if you have already fallen in love with that tiny face, we understand! ❤️ We want to give you the opportunity to make that rescue story your own happily-ever-after.
We do, however, need to share a little about our adoption process. Misty and I put a lot of time, love, and effort into making sure every kitten goes to a safe, loving, and committed home. That means sending applications, reviewing information, communicating through texts and emails, and preparing adoption contracts.
Unfortunately, sometimes we reach out repeatedly and never receive a response. We completely understand that life gets busy, and we know circumstances can change. But while we wait, these kittens still need permanent homes, and we have a responsibility to keep their adoption process moving forward.
Sylvester's adoption is an example of why communication is so important. We made our attempts to move forward with the process, but when we weren't able to get the responses needed, we had to move forward with another approved adopter. Sylvester has now been adopted, and we couldn't be happier for him! ❤️
Please understand that this isn't about being harsh or unappreciative. It's about making sure these babies don't miss out on wonderful homes while waiting for an application or contract to be completed.
✨ If you find a kitten and bring them to us for rescue, please don't hesitate to let us know if you'd like to be considered for adoption! We are happy to work with you through the process. We simply ask that you communicate with us, respond to messages, and let us know if your plans change.
Our promise is to do everything we can to give these babies the safe, loving futures they deserve. All we ask is that you help us make that possible by working with us, too. 🐾❤️
Thank you to everyone who helps us rescue, foster, support, and find forever homes for these precious little lives. Every kitten deserves a chance, and together, we can give them one! 🐱🏡💕
With love and gratitude,
Misty & Brandi ❤️🐾

So Twitch (new name tba later) went home with his very own purrfect family yesterday! Kelly, Sal, Luke and Leo will give him the best home!

For me (and I'm sure Misty too 😉) this is my favorite part of fostering these babies, the smiles when their new family finds them! This will be Luke and Leo's first pet and they have been begging for years! Mom and Dad surprised them. This photo was snapped right as they were told that Twitch was theirs 😊

🐾💗 PLEASE WELCOME MORRIS & MAISIE 💗🐾

Today, our rescue welcomed two brand-new little lives into our family — Morris and Maisie. 🥹🐾

These two sweet babies were born this morning to a young outside feral mama who simply didn’t know what to do with them. Sadly, she abandoned them, leaving these tiny newborns completely dependent on someone stepping in to give them a chance.

And that’s where we come in. ❤️

Morris and Maisie are now safe, warm, and cozy in their incubator, where they will receive the round-the-clock care they need. These little ones are absolutely TINY, but they already have some serious fight in them! 🥰

They just finished drinking 3 cc each from a syringe with a bubble ni**le — tiny bellies full and hopefully ready for some much-needed sleep. 🍼💕

For now, their world consists of warmth, food, snuggles, and lots of love. We will be their mama until they are strong enough to take that role on for themselves. ❤️

🛒 WANT TO HELP MORRIS & MAISIE?

So many of you have reached out asking how you can help our rescue, and we cannot tell you how much that means to us. 🥹❤️

We finally found some time to put together our Amazon Wish List, and we’ll be attaching the link at the bottom of this post.

If you would like to purchase something from the list, every single item will directly help us care for the animals who come through our doors. 🐾

And as anyone involved in rescue knows… there is ALWAYS something needed. From formula and feeding supplies to bedding, cleaning supplies, medical necessities, and everything in between, the needs never seem to end.

You don’t have to be able to adopt to make a difference.
You don’t have to make a large donation.
Sometimes a small package of supplies arriving at our door makes an enormous difference to an animal who desperately needs us. ❤️

Thank you for following Morris and Maisie’s journey and for believing in what we do. We are so grateful for every share, every kind word, every donation, every wish-list purchase, and every person who cheers these little babies on from afar.

Welcome to the rescue, sweet Morris & Maisie. 🩷🐾
Your story is just beginning… and we’re going to do everything we can to make sure it has a beautiful ending. 🥹❤️

🖤 EBONY’S STORY — THE LITTLE GIRL WHO REFUSED TO GIVE UP 🖤

This is Ebony. And although she may look like just a tiny, sweet little kitten, this little girl has already fought through more in her short seven weeks of life than most animals ever should.
Ebony’s story began on August 10, when her mother abandoned her shortly after she was born. She was tiny, vulnerable, and completely dependent on someone to step in and give her the chance she deserved.
That’s when Ebony came into my rescue.
At first, she seemed to be doing fairly well. We bottle-fed her, cared for her around the clock, and watched her grow. But on August 27, everything changed.
Ebony developed a severe f***l impaction. We got her through that, but what followed was even more frightening. She began having uncontrollable diarrhea.
We tried everything we could think of.
Her veterinarian prescribed four different courses of medications. We did f***l analyses. We monitored her closely, treated her, changed things, and prayed, but nothing seemed to work.
And I have to be honest… there were moments when I truly believed I was going to lose her. 💔
When Ebony went to the veterinarian on August 27, she weighed just 150 grams — essentially the weight of a newborn kitten.
Then, about five days ago, something clicked. I had what I can only describe as an epiphany.
For some reason, I started thinking about the chicken kitten food Ebony had been eating. I wondered if perhaps we were overlooking something so simple that it had been right in front of us the entire time. So, I stopped the chicken, and switched her to a turkey kitten pâté.
And then something amazing happened. The diarrhea stopped. Not better. Not slightly improved. Gone.
Ebony has not had a single episode of diarrhea since we made the change. And even better — she is finally gaining weight. 🥹🖤
Today, this little fighter weighed 509 grams.
That is the approximate size of a five-week-old kitten.
Ebony is actually seven weeks old, so yes, she still has some catching up to do. But look at how far she has come. From 150 grams to 509 grams.
From a tiny, sick, struggling newborn who had us terrified we were going to lose her, to a little girl who is finally feeling better, eating, growing, and showing us that she isn’t ready to give up.
We now strongly suspect that Ebony has a severe, life-threatening sensitivity or allergy to chicken, and we are working closely with her veterinary team to confirm.
Sometimes rescue isn’t about having all the answers.
Sometimes it’s about refusing to give up when you don’t have the answers. It’s about trying one more thing. Looking at the problem from another angle.
Trusting that little voice that says, “Maybe it’s this.” And sometimes, that one little thought can change everything.
Ebony still has a lot of catching up to do. But today, for the first time in a long time, I’m allowing myself to breathe a little easier. This tiny girl has fought so hard for her life.
And Ebony isn’t just surviving anymore.
She’s finally THRIVING. 🖤🐾
Keep growing, sweet Ebony.
You have already shown us just how strong you are. ❤️
