Trudy said FriYays are the best day ever because she found her forever!

Trudy and her sister came to us from a shelter & rescue partner after they were found as strays. She went to her foster home and has blossomed from a very shy gal to a curious, funny and sweet gal who is thankful for life and all it has brought her.

We are so grateful to her foster for giving her the safety, security and love she deserved while she got her vet care taken care of, and for showing her what life will have in store.

We are so thankful to her new family for adding this Angel to their hearts and home. She has a brand new mom and dad, a human sister and brother, a grandpaw and an older fursister to bring love, light and joy to for the rest of her days. We wish you all the very best this life can bring you.

Happiest tails, beautiful. You are so loved!❤️

🐾Updates on our OSU kids🐾

Guppy had a recheck yesterday, and had one of his pins removed and his bandage was shortened so that it no longer covers his whole leg. These were both done so that he can start to be encouraged to begin using that leg to learn how to walk on it. He will return on 9/14 for another recheck and probable X-rays.

Hermione is out of surgery. She will remain at OSU in the hospital until Sunday. Overall she did well, but did have some bleeding so will be kept under supervision and monitoring, and to ensure that she will be able to eat without any unwanted complications before being discharged. She was placed in a warming hold area after surgery to bring her body temp back up and will be transferred to the ICU to continue monitored care. She still needs all your prayers that nothing arises that is unforeseen and that she does well the next two days and can return home. (Pic taken prior to admission).

DAY NUMBER 2!!

And while she may have been confused with all the flashing lights and booming she heard last night, she's also confused why it's taken so long to find her forever home. We have to admit, so are we.

Hermione is having surgery today at Ohio State to repair both her hard and soft palates. This is a very intensive surgery that can have some pretty serious risks and complications, so we and she would be most thankful for all of the love, prayers, good vibes, well wishes and anything else you have for a safe surgery, with little or no complications, for her surgeons to operate with steady hands and confidence, the best recovery possible and also calm and peace for all of us who will be anxiously awaiting to hear how she did so we can breathe a little easier. 🩷

✨ 𝟯𝟬 𝘿𝘼𝙔𝙎 𝙊𝙁 𝙅𝙊𝙔𝘾𝙀 ✨

𝑫𝒂𝒚 1. 𝑰𝒕𝒔 𝑯𝑬𝑹 𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒏.

For the next 30 days, you’re going to see a lot of Joyce. Actually, you’re going to see her 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆 𝒅𝒂𝒚 .

Because Joyce has been waiting 14 𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒉𝒔 for someone to choose her. Fourteen months.

Joyce came to Abby’s Angels as the mama of our Stranger Things litter after she and her babies were found as strays. She raised those babies beautifully. She kept them safe. She loved them. She was an incredible mama.

And one by one, every single one of her puppies found their forever.

Joyce watched them go.
And then she waited for hers.
And waited.
And waited.

So we’ve decided that for the next 30 days, we’re going to make it pretty darn hard for the world to overlook Joyce.

Because 𝑰𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒏.

🐾 𝓶𝓮𝓮𝓽 𝓙𝓸𝔂𝓬𝓮

Joyce is around 3½ years old, weighs about 55 pounds, and is some sort of bully mix with perhaps a sprinkle of hound and several mystery ingredients thrown into the batter.
She is sweet. She is goofy. She is affectionate. She is adventurous. And we know exactly where some of her puppies got their slightly aloof tendencies.

Joyce may be missing a couple of the brain cells responsible for immediately grasping important concepts. 😂 Sometimes you can practically hear the dial-up internet connecting behind those eyes. But give her repetition, patience and lots of praise, and suddenly…

💡 𝔾𝕠𝕠𝕕 ℂℍ𝕆𝕀ℂ𝔼 𝕁𝕆𝕐ℂ𝔼! 𝚎𝚖𝚎𝚛𝚐𝚎𝚜.
And boy, is she proud of herself when she gets it right.
Joyce knows sit, paw and lie down, and she is house and crate trained. She continues to work on impulse control because, listen, when you’ve spent most of your life fighting the Upside Down, sometimes you act first and think about your choices approximately three business days later.

When the leash comes out, there is an initial:
WHERE ARE WE GOING?! ARE WE GOING SOMEWHERE?! IS IT AN ADVENTURE?! I AM READY FOR THE ADVENTURE!!

Once the excitement settles, she does fairly well.
And adventures? Joyce is IN.

She rides well in the car and would much rather be invited along than left behind. Hiking? Exploring? A drive for absolutely no reason? Going somewhere new just because it’s Saturday? Joyce has her shoes on. Let’s go.

She would love an active family who wants a dog to actually be part of their life, while continuing to teach her boundaries, expectations and the tremendous power of making Good Choices™.

Joyce has done well with the dogs in her foster home, but she needs proper introductions and some time when meeting new dogs in new environments. She can become overstimulated when there’s a lot happening around her. Think crowded vet office with dogs, cats, noises and activity everywhere. Joyce can quickly decide that if everyone else is participating in the chaos, she should probably contribute too. 😬
With structure and time to settle, she does much better. She would also absolutely thrive as your only if you’re a one dog kinda home.

She has also lived around cats and can do well with dog-savvy cats, but she needs supervision, boundaries and time to adjust.

And kids?
❤️ Joyce absolutely ADORES them. ❤️

For all of her goofy energy, Joyce is also perfectly content with one of life’s greatest luxuries:
📌A Benebone.
📌A comfortable spot.
📌And a human hand continuously petting her. (Preferably one that understands stopping is a violation of the terms and conditions.)

Joyce completed treatment for Lyme disease last year and has never shown symptoms. She has completed all of her veterinary care and is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.

What Joyce needs now isn’t someone expecting a perfectly polished dog. She needs someone willing to continue teaching her.

Because while Joyce became a mama herself, in so many ways she was still just a puppy.
Her babies were lucky enough to land in homes where people could teach them from the beginning. Joyce didn’t get that.

She didn’t get puppy classes.
She didn’t get someone teaching her all the rules when her brain was tiny and squishy.
She didn’t get years of being shown what humans expect from their dogs.
So she’s learning now.
And she 𝗖𝗔𝗡 learn. And 𝗛𝗔𝗦 learned.

She needs consistency. Positive reinforcement. Clear boundaries. Patience. Someone who can laugh when the brain cell temporarily leaves the building, celebrate when it comes back, and keep helping her become the very best version of herself.

Because underneath the things she’s still learning is a really wonderful dog.
A dog who loves people.
A dog who loves children.
A dog who wants to go places with you.
A dog who will happily gnaw her Benebone beside you.
A dog who raised her babies and watched every one of them get the thing she is still waiting for.

𝗔 𝗙𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗬.

For 14 months, Joyce has watched other dogs come and go.
For 14 months, she has been someone’s foster dog.
For 14 months, she’s been waiting for someone to look at that big blocky head, those hopeful eyes and that occasionally buffering little brain and say:

“𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗴.”

So we’re giving ourselves 30 days.
30 Days of Joyce.
Thirty days to tell you everything we love about her.
Thirty days to show you who she really is.
Thirty days to share her ridiculous moments, her sweet moments, her Good Choice Joyce moments and probably a few Questionable Choice Joyce moments, too.
Thirty days to get her face in front of the person who’s been missing her without even knowing it.
Her puppies got their happily ever after.
Now we’re coming for yours, Joyce.

🖤 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐑𝐓𝐘.
Help us make sure we don’t need Day 31.

Share her.
Talk about her.
Tell your friends about her.
Somewhere out there is Joyce’s person.

𝐋𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦.
