Today was one of the most rewarding days I’ve experienced since starting Coastal Frenchies & Bulldogs !!
A few weeks ago, I received an email from a family whose beloved French Bulldog had passed away last year from cancer. Their father in law is currently on hospice care and had been missing the comfort and companionship of his first frenchie grandchild.
Today, I loaded up two of our puppies, Lolah and Cora and drove to Staten Island to spend some time with him and his family.
Watching his face light up, seeing the smiles, hearing the laughter, and witnessing the joy that 2 little puppies brought during such a difficult time was something I’ll never forget. Sometimes we get caught up about pedigree info, colors, specific breeds, but moments like today are a reminder that these dogs or any dog are so much more than then that. They have an incredible ability to bring comfort, healing, and happiness when people need it the most.
Before I left, the family handed me a card thanking me for bringing the puppies to visit. The truth is, I needed this visit just as much as the puppies did. My wife is an oncology nurse and because of that, I understand how precious these moments are for families facing difficult circumstances. Being able to bring even a little bit of distraction during such a challenging time made this visit incredibly special for me as well.
To the Oliveri family, thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your day. Sometimes the smallest paws can leave the biggest footprints ❤️ 🐾
