đ¨ LETâS CLEAR SOMETHING UP REAL QUICKâŚ
AKC REGISTERED â WELL BRED.
I have literally had friends tell me:
âWell, theyâre AKC, so that means theyâre well bred, right?â
No. đ
AKC registration simply means the dog is registered with the American Kennel Club. Thatâs it.
It does NOT mean the breeder is reputable.
It does NOT mean the parents were health tested.
It does NOT mean they have good temperaments.
It does NOT mean theyâre titled, proven, structurally sound, or thoughtfully bred.
âBut they have papers!â
Cool. So do plenty of poorly bred dogs. đ¤ˇââď¸
If youâre choosing a breeder, donât stop at the AKC logo. Ask:
đž What health testing was done?
đž WHY were these dogs bred?
đž What are their temperaments like?
đž Whatâs in the pedigree?
đž What have the parents been proven in?
đž How are the puppies raised?
Papers donât make a good breeder.
Research does.
And if âTheyâre AKC registered!â is the breederâs biggest selling pointâŚ
đŠ Iâd be asking a LOT more questions.
Agree? Disagree? Letâs hear it. đ
