After getting a text from a hunter who lost sign while trailing his buck in the rain - we set up a time to meet him nearby and see if we could help.

We set up the monitor, launched the drone, then headed to the pin he gave us. Almost immediately we got a heat signature that we had to check out - wasn't him. Then, only about 125 yards where the hunter last saw him, another heat signature!

We guided the hunter to his deer and got our equipment out of the rain. Then, we did something different. We went in and helped him drag that deer out, because that's the right thing to do. I'm sorry we didn't get the traditional "hero" shot, but I think we were both pretty wet and tired lol. Congratulations Mason Gneiting!

Not every recovery happens this quickly, but the hunter can take steps to make a search easier. Allow proper time before looking for your animal, search quietly, always start a route while searching, back out if you're not sure, and at a minimum - give your drone pilot pins of where the animal was hit and where you saw last sign.

Agree or disagree with hunting - deer recovery is about doing the right thing when an animal is injured or lost. Finding an injured deer as quickly as possible can help prevent prolonged suffering while locating a deceased animal allows for a respectful, ethical recovery. Our goal is always to use thoughtful, responsible methods to make the process as humane and compassionate as possible.

Our rescue of Vinny caught the attention of Kat Albrecht-Thiessen, whom many consider to be the "God Mother" of lost pet recovery. Kat is truly a pioneer in lost pet recovery and has traveled the country to recover lost pets and train others in the best practices. Today, she shared our story of Vinny!

Not every search ends this way and a drone is never a guarantee. A thermal drone is just another tool in the toolbox, but when it works - it can sometimes be a matter of life and death. Vinny didn't have time to wait for a K-9 search. A trail of liquid smoke or a bait station with a trail camera wouldn't have been helpful here. A well placed trap would have sat empty - because Vinny had a fractured leg. He needed help to find him, and on that night, a determined mother and a thermal drone team found him and brought him home safely.

Not every call turns into a dramatic search mission. Sometimes… the dogs just come back home 😂

Ashley got a call from her aunt while she was at work that her two dogs had gone missing. She sent everything to Jim, who called Dawn, made a flyer, and got the neighborhood looking. We planned to reassess at 6:30 PM if they hadn't been found.

Then while out driving & looking, Dawn got a call from a neighbor:

“Hey, your dogs are at your house."
- "WHAT!?"
"Yeah, they’re barking at the Amazon guy.” 😂

Cue the laughter, the relief, and a little bit of “well… that's a hilarious yet happy ending.”

Not every call is an adventure. Sometimes people just need someone to answer the phone, help get the word out, and be there 🩵
