We had our discussion with internal medicine concerning the z litter digestion issues. The photos of the report are attached. Wrangler may or may not play a part in them not being able to fight the intestinal infection. There could be a genetic factor but there is no easy way to know. She has always had softer stool herself but not enough to cause bad growth, low weight gain, or a poor coat condition.
We decided to put her on enrofloxicin to see how she responded. This is the same medicine that puppies have been responding very quickly to. If she were fighting the same bacteria there would be significant change quickly expected just like the puppies. She has been on it now for 8 days and her bowel movements haven't really changed. I have updated the internal medicine vet and will probably hear from them next week but it's looking like she has more of a food sensitivity than a low grade infection. So no real answers still as to how everyone would have the same issue. We are also still waiting to hear results from the puppy that had the colonoscopy done. That should give a confirmation on what's going on internally.
All of the babies are beautiful and from what I have been updated have great temperaments for their families. Without solid information on cause and not knowing if it would happen again, Wrangler is now considered retired and will not produce any more. Her first, last, and only litter was perfect in almost every way, this one imperfection is just too big to chance happening again.

Anyone still struggling with severe digestive stress in their puppy, please read the information screenshot from another puppy family. Although it's not confirmed, all symptoms and treatment line up with AIEC! 3 puppies have now been put on Baytril and every one of them saw significant improvement within 24 hours! If they are dealing with AIEC, regular antibiotics won't work, it has to be a specific type which is why nothing has helped thus far.
I will be discussing everything with internal medicine on April 9th with Wrangler and if she passed this on and it can't be cured she will be spayed so no puppies will have to deal with this in the future.
* Again this is not a diagnosis but information on a treatment that has been working* please discuss with your vet!

Royalty went in to have a dental done today and a gingivectomy. We just got a call saying his temp is not coming up like it should and he's not overcoming the anesthesia properly. Any words of encouragement are appreciated to get him to get through this. I'm worried about our boy. It should have been a simple procedure. 💜🐾💜

🐾Bittersweet announcement 🐾

I have been going back and forth for a few years now on making a decision on when to call it on raising large breed dogs. I gave the decision to the universe and believe with this last litter we got the sign that I need to step back. It's difficult when you have put nearly 20 years into your program and believe in the dogs that you produce and look back and see how many happy families are out there. But I also realize that my body is going to continue to deteriorate with the genetic connective tissue disorder I have and large dogs are a risk of injury every single day. I love working with our boxers and showing others how truly smart they really can be but it definitely takes it's toll. That and the mystery illness that affected our last boxer litter (we had a Toy Aussie litter born 1/16/26 who has had absolutely no issues even being in the same area) has gotten me to believe it is time.

With that being said, the boxers we have in our program will be the last that I personally raise. I will open the possibility of a family taking in a guardian female and male to take over Royalty's place, but if it's not meant to be then LJK Boxers will come to an end in a couple of years.

Our current dogs include Royalty who will be retiring within the next 2 years, Maizy, Wrangler, Buck, and introducing our last in home raised Trindle Boxer "Finale"! She will be joining us in just over a week. Whether she passes her health tests or not, I'm getting her for me. I researched for years on the tri boxer, even reached out to AKC themselves to verify they are a registered color which they are. I LOVE the tri color and her points are brindle which is beautiful. A fellow Idaho breeder who I have worked with a few times produced her and I am beyond excited to get to bring one home. She will be beyond spoiled as the last LJK baby.
