We sure do love our little BobTail!

His tail is all healed up, and dare I say, so fluffy it gives the illusion of grown back!

He comes running up to the feed stations right along with our rehab alum!

Happy World Turtle Day from our Creep + Wild ones we’ve had the pleasure to see! Turtles face a lot of threats in the wild, and many species are struggling to maintain healthy populations.

Our creep recommends you head over to and learn more!

🐢 Pancake, Butter, and Maple have been our family members, starting in July 2015. They are Isla’s babies. Tortoises can live a very long time, so part of being a responsible tortoise keeper is having a long term plan for them.

🐢 I think Isla got the idea to have her own tortoises shortly after she helped me rescue a stranded and lost turtle when we lived in Texas. All the way back in 2015, we helped this guy get into skilled care! We didn’t have a box in the car when we found him, and Isla was worried about safety. Hence the hug. 11 years later, I would make different choices 😂

Grace would like everyone to know she’s acclimating to wild life just fine.

Not long after being release, Grace quickly found refuge in one of our newly installed nest box. She made quick work of making that HER box, and stayed pretty deep in the woods. Clearly my girl was READY!

Today was the first day that she came back to see me at the prerelease pen, and was very eager to take many snacks!

Because clearly she’s been lacking in the snacking department.

Grace joined us as an itty bitty pinky baby last summer. She was wintered over with us, and became wild last week. She is the squirrel who taught me the most, and will forever be in my heart.

Grumpy 2.0 was jealous of the press coverage her sister got earlier in the day, so she decided to pose this evening.

Grumpy’s tail (along with Grace’s and Fiona’s) started molting out their last week in prerelease. Don’t panic, it will grow back out big & fluffy. Sometimes stress it sudden weather changes can cause it. Sometimes they just do it. Clearly she isn’t suffering from malnutrition as she is here enjoying her second Henry’s block of the day 😂

When The Grumpies were in care, they avoided human interaction. They never “bonded” with us. In fact, Grumpy 3.0 growled at us from day one. But now, that they are free girls, they just glow of happy and approach me for snacks when I head out. I love to see how, despite being raised from a pinky, in my bedroom for 6+ months, she is now the happiest in the woods. It just shows that these animals are meant to be wild.

Grumpy 3.0 is so so much happier as a wild girl.

I love that we had the chance to rehab her, but I love that she gets to be wild even more so!

She was the only one to come for breakfast this morning, and she absolutely loved the attention of the camera.

It’s safe to say, our squirrels never go hungry.

Buccee enjoys his blocks, even after being released! We will keep offering supplemental nutrition at their prerelease site for the next few weeks, as they learn where else to find it on their own around these parts.

It’s starting to warm up here (finally!). Our newly released kids are choosing to rest and stay cool up in the trees! Peep Grumpy 3.0 in the crook of a tree, and Grace splooting on the branch by her nest box!

Oh little Dr. Whittaker. You have my whole ♥️

For the first two weeks you had to fight really hard to push through. The runt of the litter. The littlest guy. The underdog.

Look at you tonight, while your siblings take their post dinner nap, you want to play, and be held, and climb.

But you also kind of need a bath, again 😂

I am so lucky I get to be your mom.

Whittaker is about 7 1/2 weeks old. He will remain in rehab until July, when he will be returned to where he belongs, the Wild.
